Super Movie Moan Party Kart 64

Besides whoring Siskel & Ebert.Org, it was a relatively slow week in news; save for At Mountains of Madness falling apart, the Super 8 trailer and Phil's review of Battle: Los Angeles. That is to say the 30 minutes that he sat through before walking out.

Thus on this week's Movie Moan podcast, Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed and Jamie focus their attention on video games. In this case, the gang talks about their favorite games, where do they stand nowadays with them and where do they think the industry and gamers as a whole are headed.

Movie Moan: Dead and Loving It!

Two of the four Movie Moan gang (Queen Kristina and Jamie) sat through all three hours of last week's oscars, while Phil and Ed decidedly they had better things to do such as sleeping or doing their taxes. Judging by the final product, we all know who came out the winner there.

Besides commenting on the telecast, Phil gives his reviews for The Adjustment Bureau and All Star Superman and her Majesty chastises I Am Number Four, a movie so good it caused some in her party to fall asleep during its IMAX (!) screening. Yeah, it was that good.

As always there are bundles of movie-news to discuss. Diane Lane is the new Ma Kent for Superman: The Man of Steel, making her the hottest MILF in a comic-book tentpole since Rosemary Harris in the Spider-Man films. The rights to Blade Runner are brought up with the possibility of prequels and/or sequels to Ridley Scott's classic, as bone-headed a decision (financially and creatively) as that sounds. MGM is one step closer to that Robocop reboot with the hiring of Brazilian filmmaker Jose Padilha.

All that plus Men in Black 3 gets another writer in David Koepp (a personal favorite of Phil's!), Tim Burton possibly doing The Hunchback of Notre Dame, continued epic-blandness behind Thor's marketing and everyone's thoughts on a zombified Stephen Hawking.

Movie Moan: Pussy on a Pedestal

That seems to be what fanbitches are doing upon the news of John Chu directing G.I. Joe 2. Out of nowhere a franchise as silly as that has suddenly become too pristine for the lowly director of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. They have seen a different film from the Movie Moan crew.

In addition to that, the gang (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed & Jamie) tackle the tough issues such as Oscar predictions and if hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway will reach the highs of Hugh Jackman or lows of Ellen DeGeneres. We shall see in a few short hours.

There's also movie-news to get to, as always. Someone has to be Zod in Superman: The Man of Steel and it could be Gerald Butler, Daniel Day-Lewis or Viggo Mortensen. Then again, it could also wind up being none of them. At least they've (probaby) got Kevin Costner for Pa Kent. Some poor schmuck also has to follow in Matt Damon's footsteps for the stupidly Bourne-less The Bourne Legacy and the producers behind Wrath of the Titans renege on those earlier promises of filming in 3D this time around. Suckers! It's going to be another post 3D conversion!

All of that plus Scientology, Charlie Sheen, getting Dwayne Johnson mixed up with Vin Diesel and the return of the weekly debates and pose the question if Quentin Tarantino is done making movies?

Movie Moan: Still Not Feeling That Thor Footage

After a Comic-Con presentation, a Superbowl TV spot and now two theatrical trailers, it's still a general "Eh" consensus from the Movie Moan gang on Thor. Maybe Marvel is still holding on delivering the goods or maybe the crew (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed & Jamie) are the idiots here? You decide.

Elsewhere on this week's podcast is Phil's review of Paul, the sci-fi comedy starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost that won't grace the domestic screens until next month. Everyone reacts to the rumors of a theoretical Terminator 5, Marion Cotillard in talks to join The Dark Knight Rises and Christopher Nolan rumored to get his Howard Hughes film going after wrapping up his Batman trilogy.

All of that plus the problem of making Wonder Woman work on-screen, The Amazing Spider-Man  possibly fitting into the continuity of the Sam Raimi films (according to producer Avi Arad), Kristina's love for The Maury Povich Show and how Jamie would dress up like a dog for Martin Scorsese.

    Movie Moan: Shitting Your Huggies

Or as Jamie calls it, "Talking to Phil about Die Hard 4!" Wait till he hears about Die Hard 5 getting a director!

On this week's Movie Moan, the gang (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed & Jamie) react to the usual barrage of Superbowl TV spots last weekend ("PACKEEEEERS!"). Captain America, Super 8, Cowboys & Aliens, Pirates 4, they're all covered and learn how her Majesty used her Superbowl watching friends as gages for how Transformers: Dark of the Moon will do this July.

Also up for length discussions is the new X-Men: First Class teaser, Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher and Shane Black possibly writing/directing Iron Man 3...and how Jamie strangely called it.
