Movie Moan: Ghost Protocol of the Titans

Obviously, by that title, the Movie Moan gang (Phil, Lou & Jamie) are talking about some of their favorite, and not-so-favorite, films of 2010. Not much else this week besides a discussion on the Coen brothers' True Grit.

While the rest of this week's podcast is dedicated to the best, worst, surprises and disappointments of 2010's filmography. At least, of the films the guys have seen so far. Knock on wood, things should get back to normal next week and they'll have movie-news to talk about too.

    Movie Moan: Entering the Grid

For this week's Movie Moan, the gang (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed, Lou & Jamie) spend most of the podcast talking the movies they saw this week – Black Swan, I Love You Phillip Morris, The Fighter and Tron: Legacy. Yes, that is the brilliant Daft Punk score that opens and closes this week's show. We couldn't resist!

In between her Majesty comparing the Tron sequel to AIDS (and the performance from its lead Garrett Hedlund), there's also a brief discussion about two movie-news items. Jon Favreau is walking off into the sunset away from Iron Man 3, and the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides trailer being released.

We'll be off next week for Christmas, and will (most likely) be back for a post-New Year's show. So have a safe and happy holidays, and thank you for your continued support this year!

    Movie Moan: J-J-Jellyfish!

A light week on this week's Movie Moan with only a few of the gang here this week (Phil, Queen Kristina & Jamie), only a few movie-news topics to discuss and some audio troubles in the opening minutes. We apologize in advance!

Phil talks about seeing The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (likely the last we’ll see of this franchise based on its opening weekend numbers) and he and her Majesty talk up the documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty.

The trio of new trailers for Thor, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Real Steel are picked apart, the latest batch of returning Lord of the Rings cast-members joining The Hobbit and all this Alien prequel nonsense. And based on this week's title, why Will Smith needs to get back into the hip-hop scene and what a song for Seven Pounds would have sounded like!

The Movie Moan Holiday Gift Guide Special 2010

For the majority of this week's Movie Moan, the gang (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed, Lou & Jamie) do a special Holiday Gift Guide Special where they discuss what items to purchase, ranging from stuff in existence to those that sadly aren't. So yes, this is our longest podcast yet.

But for those of you good listeners in the mood for just movie-news and random bullshit, then you'll enjoy the first hour. Her Majesty gives her thoughts on Tangled and Faster. Indeed, even her love for Dwayne Johnson can only go so far. After all that talk of The Beaver, not only will it finally be released next spring, but a trailer was released – to a resounding "Meh!"

James Franco and Anne Hathaway will be the new Oscar hosts, which leads to a conversation not only about whether they'll deliver, but Oscar predictions in general this year. Also up for discussion are Superman (Hans Zimmer composing the reboot and if only an American should play the title role) and James Bond (David Arnold and Kate Winslet, strangely, says it's happening for 2012) updates and Tron: Legacy's troubling early reviews and box-office tracking.

And of course, they chat up the passing of both comic-legend Leslie Nielsen and director Irvin Kershner. They will be missed!

Movie Moan: Queen Kristina & the Moanly Hallows

It's a mixed bag of what the Movie Moan crew (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed, Lou & Jamie) thought of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows – Part I. Needless to say (and judging by the title of this week’s show), her Majesty was disappointed and Jamie didn't even get to see the entire film – thank you very much, faulty film-projector.

In addition to the lengthy discussion on the next-to-last Potter installment, the gang talks about Daniel Day-Lewis cast as Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's long-planned biopic on the 16th President and a new Hulk television series in development by Guillermo del Toro and Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Icke.

All of that, plus Phil does his George Reeves impression and everyone's thoughts on the big weeks' trailers: Green Lantern, Your Highness, Source Code and Cowboys & Aliens.
