Movie Moan: Entering the Grid
For this week's Movie Moan, the gang (Phil, Queen Kristina, Ed, Lou & Jamie) spend most of the podcast talking the movies they saw this week – Black Swan, I Love You Phillip Morris, The Fighter and Tron: Legacy. Yes, that is the brilliant Daft Punk score that opens and closes this week's show. We couldn't resist!
In between her Majesty comparing the Tron sequel to AIDS (and the performance from its lead Garrett Hedlund), there's also a brief discussion about two movie-news items. Jon Favreau is walking off into the sunset away from Iron Man 3, and the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides trailer being released.
We'll be off next week for Christmas, and will (most likely) be back for a post-New Year's show. So have a safe and happy holidays, and thank you for your continued support this year!

The Fighter was great and Christian Bale proves why he is a great actor. Plus Marky Mark was really good in it but Bale owned. Jamie I'm glad you saw The Fighter but you did waste your money on Tron. Shame, Shame. ;)
Pirates 4 looks dumb and I don't care for it and for the record I liked the first 3 Pirates movie.
When does Kristina stop talking about Black Swan. I want to go into it as cold as possible.
I agree with pretty much everything that has been said about Tron Legacy... unfortunately :-(
Welshfilmbuff, I stay entirely spoiler-free during the review. You can listen and not worry about a thing. I went in spoiler-free and I wanted to afford you the same luxury:)
Thanks very much! I shall carry on listening :-)
about how Kevin Flynn knew that the guy was tron at the end.
Tron has 3 small lights on hes chest. this is hte same symbol like in the first movie from the 80's
I'm in the process of listening to these podcasts from the beginning (i'm up to "its so RE") and I've never disagreed with you guys more than on Tron Legacy. I have seen the same complaints online, so maybe I'm in the minority on this. I thought Hedlund had plenty of charisma. The criticisms of the Clu fx are valid, but I didn't mind because the story engaged me and FX aren't where they should be in many movies (when will live action spiderman stop turning into a cartoon during action sequences, etc). Flynn's confrontation with Clu and his talk about perfection and what he didn't know when he created Clu stuck with me. I'm 37 and my 25 year old self would be confused/angered by many of the choices I've made. For me, that one scene was more thought provoking than anything in Trek 2009 or its sequel.
As far as Clu's plan, it didn't cross my mind to have his real world abilities spelled out. His intentions were sinister and Flynn was desperate to stop him so I assumed Clu in the real world would be bad.
