Movie Moan - The Wrath Of Burnett (Theatrical & Extended Cuts Available)

Who knows if that picture of Nicholas Cage as Superman is real?  Burnett knows...

On this week's episode Phil, Jamie & Kristina had the absolute joy and pleasure of being joined by director, producer, writer, editor, best friend of Bryan Singer, Robert Meyer Burnett

What transpired was a truly enlightening conversation in which we learned that he is the biggest James Bond fan it is possible to find on this planet.  We learned the many things wrong with the newly rebooted 'Star Trek'.  And we learned some things about Superman that blew our socks off.

There was so much Robert goodness that we just couldn't deprive you of any of it and, for the first time on Movie Moan, are presenting both a regular and extended version of the podcast.

Here are the cliff notes (for the video version only) so you can skip to what you want:

4:20 mins - For the show, we kick things off with the most belated review of 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol'; a film which we have been meaning to talk about for weeks, simply because we all had such a good time watching it.

22:45 mins - And from one super spy franchise to the biggest of all, we talk about the news of the 'Bond 50' mega blu ray boxset coming later this year and of the surprising news of Thomas Newman being chosen as the composer for the upcoming 23rd official film 'Skyfall'.

37:30 mins - After weeks of bottling it up, Jamie gets to let loose on the folly of Khan being in any way connected to the upcoming (and finally shooting) 'Star Trek' sequel.  What may surprise you is how little Robert is enthused about it or its predecessor.

46:55 mins - Finally, the 'moan of the week' returns with a look at one of those 90's gems recommended to us by Gene Siskel & Roger Ebert back in the day; 'One False Move' from 1992.

Movie Moan - The Wrath Of Burnett (extended edition) - available for download below:

Please enjoy the full uncut near 100 minute version in audio only.  Trust us when we say that if you're a Bond, Superman, or Star Trek fan then you need to listen to this show.

    Movie Moan - My Shooooooes!

Like a flux capacitated (is that a word?) Delorean, Movie Moan explodes back onto your web browser screens and also is available once again in audio only.  Just download the file at the bottom of the post.

And we're also bringing back the cliff notes so you can skip to the good bits (though please do make sure you check out our brand new opening credits):

3:40 mins - The whole gang of Jamie, Kris, Ed and Phil enjoy a divisive discussion on 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'.

20:15 mins - Phil kicks off the year with another angry rant, this time by reviewing the spectacular failure that is 'The Iron Lady' (and the reason for the title of this week's show can be found within).

34:50 mins - Playing trailer commentary catch-up, we give our thoughts on the trailer for 'The Hobbit'...

44:20 mins - ...and the trailer for 'Prometheus'.

48:35 mins - Our wrap up review of the films of 2011 by each choosing the best and worst film of the year, the most surprising and the most disappointing.

Movie Moan: Santa's Bulging Trailer Sack

The whole gang is here for the last Movie Moan of 2011; Queen Kristina, Capt. Ed Hocken, Jamie Williams, Phil Gee & the wise, sage, and much missed Mr Lou Sytsma.

To end things with a bang, Phil and Jamie clash just a little bit on 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows' while Lou sells us on Steven Spielberg's 'War Horse'.

The gang then devote a near hour to dissecting the major trailers for 2012's biggest movies; 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'G.I.Joe: Retaliation', 'Men In Black 3', 'Jack The Giant Killer', 'John Carter', and 'The Dictator'.  We also piss our own kind of fire all over 'Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance'.

Finally, we look back on a year of podcasts with our own list of memorable and magic moments in 'The Top Ten Movie Moan Highlights Of 2011'.

Thank you for all of your support this year and a very Merry Christmas.

The Movie Moan 2011 Holiday Gift Guide

Here's a show that doesn't need a long winded written introduction.  The Movie Moan gang are here with the only film podcast Christmas gift guide you'll find backed up the awesome power of Blip video.

Kristina, Jamie and Phil suggest gift ideas for the film fan who already has everything, the children it is important to get hooked on movies, grown adults who still love toys, people who can only afford to play one video game a year, and also our own personal gift for each of our Movie Moan colleagues (there are more cars being given away on this show than on a whole season of 'The Price Is Right').

There are links to most things we talk about this week in the show but if you can't find anything on the web, just let us know in the comments section.  I figured it would patronize you if I assumed you didn't know how to find Amazon (besides, they aren't paying us for ad money for this).

Movie Moan: Always Looking For A Fight

It was a slim week for news but it's funny how some Batman chat can stretch the show to an hour.

In this week's show, we each offer an opinion on the news gleamed from the recent Empire magazine exclusive on 'The Dark Knight Rises' regarding the eight year gap between the film and its predecessor, as well as what's really pumping through Bane's innards.

We also react to the news that Q will be re-entering the James Bond family courtosey of actor Ben Wishaw and how, even though Jamie doesn't like the idea, it doesn't matter anymore because that's what we're getting.

Ed Hocken reviews the latest from David Cronenberg, 'A Dangerous Method' (a discussion Phil promptly sabotages before it can get too serious), plus Jamie and Kristina report back on the eagerly anticipated 'The Muppets'.

Finally, in tribute to the passing of Steve Jobs, Ed's 'moan of the week' is the TV movie documenting his and Bill Gates life, 'Pirates Of Silicon Valley'.
