NHL ANNOUNCES 2012-13 SEASON SCHEDULE!

Regular Season Opens Saturday, Jan. 19, With 26 Teams In Action

720 Games Over 99 Days Determine The 16 Teams Qualifying For 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Schedule Features Intra-Conference Exclusivity
Emphasis On Divisional Play Highlights Intense Rivalries

NEW YORK (January 12, 2013) -- The National Hockey League’s 2012-13 regular season will commence on Saturday, Jan. 19, with 26 of the NHL’s 30 teams in action.  This season, each team will play a 48-game schedule comprised entirely of games against Clubs within its conference.  The regular season concludes Saturday, Apr. 27, with another 13-game slate.  The 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin Tuesday, Apr. 30.

The 2012-13 NHL scheduling matrix focuses competition on the most heated rivalries in the League. Teams will play 18 games within the division: four games (two home and two away) against two of the teams in the division, five games (three home and two away) against one team from the division and five games (two home and three away) against the remaining divisional opponent.

To complete the 720-game schedule, Clubs will play three games against each of the ten remaining non-divisional opponents from within the conference.  Outside the division, a team will face five clubs twice at home and once away, while playing once at home and twice on the road against the other five teams.

In what promises to be a frenetic 99-day regular season, there is at least one NHL game on the schedule every night.  The final day of the season – Saturday, Apr. 27 – again features 26 teams in action creating a final, 13-game push for the playoffs.

This season begins in the same location last season ended when on Jan. 19 the Los Angeles Kings raise their 2012 Stanley Cup Championship banner at Staples Center before taking on the 2010 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks at 3 p.m. ET.  Both NBC in the U.S. and CBC in Canada will present coverage of the Kings’ banner ceremony before taking viewers to live NHL action.

On opening day in the U.S., starting at 3 p.m. ET, NBC will present regional coverage of Kings-Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins visiting the Philadelphia Flyers.  That night, NHL Network-U.S. presents live coverage of the New York Rangers visiting the Boston Bruins.

The next day, NBC has national coverage of the Flyers in Buffalo taking on the Sabres at 12:30 p.m. ET.  NBC Sports Group is broadcasting four games over the first two days of the season, three on NBC and one on NBC Sports Network, which launches its season Sunday, Jan. 20, in Phoenix as the Coyotes host the Blackhawks at 10 p.m. ET.

In Canada, CBC kicks off an opening day triple-header with the Kings’ banner ceremony followed by the Ottawa Senators at the Winnipeg Jets, the Montreal Canadiens hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7 p.m. ET and the Anaheim Ducks visiting the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m. ET.

CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada enters its 60th season with 49 games on the schedule. This season includes ten Original Six pairings, 18 all-Canadian match-ups and a full day of coverage on Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada on February 9. CBC’s NHL coverage once again includes the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the network is the exclusive home of the Stanley Cup Final.

TSN is producing 42 games this season with every game featuring at least one Canadian team.  TSN retains English-language exclusivity of Wednesday Night Hockey and includes national coverage of the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Regular-season coverage on TSN begins Tuesday, Jan. 22, with a double-header featuring Winnipeg at the Washington Capitals at 7 p.m. ET immediately followed by the San Jose Sharks visiting the Edmonton Oilers.  TSN and TSN2 will confirm their package of games featuring other U.S. based teams in the coming days.

RDS returns with French-language coverage of all Montreal Canadiens games.  More than 100 games will air on RDS and RDS2. The networks will confirm their package of games featuring other NHL teams in the coming days.

NHL Network-U.S. will televise 78 live games this season focusing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and featuring eight double-headers, seven triple-headers and one quadruple-header.  Information on the dates and times of the NHL Network live-game schedule for Canadian viewers will be released in the near future.

Jessica Simpson Is "Bumpin & Proud"

Just as her Weight Watchers magazine cover is presenting itself in retailers across the country Jessica Simpson is taking to her Twitter to show that pregnant is certainly still hot.

The 32 year old multi-talented diva tweeted a picture of herself in an open robe wearing a revealing bikini. Weight Watchers is sticking with Simpson, after her impressive 50 pound weight loss. I'm thinking 2014 is her year.

Russian Plane Crashes Into Highway

I've been involved in a couple of car crashes in my time behind the wheel, I've also witnessed a handful. None of these accidents involved planes however. Below is a video where a Russian plane destroys the road and some cars in it's path.

Toddler Almost Gets Kidnapped By Canadian Eagle

Things that happen in Canada usually stay in Canada, unless you're a Golden Eagle. Apparently if you are, you can just snatch up innocent toddlers and bring them back to your nest. That's what almost happens to this poor kid, but luckily the dillusional eagle drops him only a foot or so off the ground.

So not only to parents have to keep their kids safe from perverts and kidnappers, now they have to be on the lookout for crazy ass birds as well? I'm beginning to think the Mayans were right.

I Love The Griswold's Old Navy Commercials

Although my least favorite of the National Lampoon's Vacation series is the Christmas verison, I give Old Navy mad props for coming up with the below Christmas commercials involving Clark W. Griswold and family to market their "pop pants" and "fuzzy sweaters".

Not only do Chevy Chase & Beverly D'Angelo reprise their roles as Mr. & Mrs. Griswold, versatile actress Juliette Lewis makes an appearance in all three commercials as "Christmas Audrey". My strange crush on her, I just can't explain. It just is. Don't judge me.

If that isn't enough for you, "Original Rusty"(Anthony Michael Hall) & "Original Audrey"(Dana Barron) are also in on the fun along with "Euro Rusty"(Jason Lively). Beret included.

Santa Claus VS Moses - Epic Rap Battles Of History Season 2

I automatically thought Santa on this one, just by reading the title. No offense to Moses, but Santa is beloved by children across the world. Sure some fairytales suggest that Moses parted the Sed Sea, but let's see him guide a sleigh all over the world and deliver presents to all the good little boys and girls.

All of the above thoughts came to a screeching halt once I found out who is playing Moses...

Santa: "I'm from the North Pole, that's why my rhymes are so cold."

Starbucks Responds To Slowing Economy With $7 Cup Of Coffee

The unemployment rate in October was 7.9 percent, that totals about 12.3 million Americans that are unemployed, but that hasn't stopped coffee juggernaut Starbucks from introducing a $7 cup of coffee according to the Washington Post. If you don't want to purchase the seven dollar 16-ounce grande coffee you can opt for the six dollar 12-ounce tall instead to save a couple of your hard earned dollars. You can also have the option to brew at home if you purchase half-pound of the rare Costa Rican coffee called Geisha for $40.

I'm more of a Dunkin Donuts guy myself, but sometimes I choose to "Trust The Local Flavor" of Honey Dew Donuts. However, it doesn't mean there isn't a market for the most expensive coffee Starbucks has ever brewed. The Starbucks customer is now looking at coffee as one would wine. Pretty soon you're going to be hearing the terms "buttery" and "oak" when discussing coffees. You laugh, but this isn't far off.

The Empire State Building's LED Light Show

The Empire State Building, to show off its new LED lights, put on its first ever "light show" on November 26, 2012 at 9PM. The light show was synchronized to Alicia Keys songs Girl is on Fire and Empire State of Mind.

The lighting system, created by Philips Color Kinetics, can generate 16 million colors, and create effects such as ripples, bursts, sweeps, sparkles, cross-fades, strobes and chasers.

Video shot from Hoboken, NJ.

Music in the background was playing on the radio which was simulcast on several radio stations in New York City at the same time.

Batman VS Sherlock Holmes - Epic Rap Battles Of History Season 2

Taking two pop culture icons and having them go at each other in an epic rap battle? Check. Including their somewhat controversial side kicks in the verbal destruction? Check. Throwing in well known catch phrases from multi-million dollar film franchises? Check.

Check out Batman versus Sherlock Holmes below as they lay a lyrical assault on each other.

Not sure if the TMT readers have seen these Songified videos yet, but these creative bastards did the same thing with the other two Presidential Debates. Pretty funny stuff. View below and let me know if you agree.
