Tom Hardy To Headline Splinter Cell

The path to big screen glory has not been an easy one for video game adaptions unlike comic book movies, in fact there has still not been a video game adaption that has really done the source material justice.

However a few months ago Michael Fassbender was linked with Assassins Creed and now fellow fanboy favourite Tom Hardy is set to star as Sam Fisher in the long awaited adaption of stealth game classic Splinter Cell.

Although Metal Gear Solid is the game credited with making stealth based games popular, it could be argued that Splinter Cell took the gameplay concept to a more difficult and painstaking level. This is, along with Uncharted, the easiest big video game franchise to adapt to the big screen. It looks like the film will land at either Warner Brothers or Paramount.

Below is a look at the games evolution from it's debut in 2002. Sam Fisher will be back in the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist, due early next year.

First Image From 'All You Need Is Kill'

Collider have nabbed the first official image from the Doug Liman Manga adaption starring Tom Cruise. The premise is essentially a sci fi war movie version of Groundhog Day.

The image itself is pretty damn cool, the practical mech suit looks great. Tom Cruise has quite the line-up over the next year and a half with 'Jack Reacher' followed by 'Oblivion' next April and then this beast, two big sci fi films back to back is certainly a bold choice.

First White House Down Images

Back in 1996 Roland Emmerich created one of the most memorable money-shots ever when he blew the White House up in the sci fi blockbuster 'Independence Day'. Now; 16 years on his new movie is about saving the same iconic building in a film that really does sound like Die Hard in The White House, which is cool in my book.

What I am less sure of is Emmerich, who hasn't directed anything to shout about since the aforementioned ID4, and lead star Tatum, who may be basking in the glory of his success with 21 Jump Street and that film where Rachel McAdams couldn't remember him. Whether he really has the charisma needed to headline a blockbuster aiming for a summer release is still a big question mark.

The Last Stand - Final Trailer

This is pretty much everything a new Arnie action movie needs to be, it's self aware without being smug about it and has it's tongue firmly in cheek.

For me the best Arnie movies have always had an element of humour about them with the exceptions of Terminator and Predator. Here Jee-woon Kim seems to have created a cool and over the top action romp that is perfect for the aging action icon, it's closer in tone to his "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" than his masterpiece "A Bittersweet Life."

SKYFALL - TURKEY LOCATIONS VIDEOBLOG

We are getting close to the release of the highly anticipated new Bond movie and this new videoblog takes a look at the Turkey location shoot, the location where the opening sequence was shot.

As everyone knows the pre-credits sequence of a Bond movie is a big deal, many of them are iconic and each director looks to deliver a memorable one, and judging by this videoblog Sam Mendes may well have created one of the franchise' best chases!

Passion Trailer

A new Brian De Palma film is always of interest at least until you've seen it, then it splits audiences down the middle more often than not.

The trailer is  here for his latest psychological thriller "Passion," which stars Rachel McAdams as a high powered business woman that appears to begin a sexual cat and mouse game with her protege played by Noomi Rapace, there is also a cool Kabuki style mask at play and some corporate intrigue as well.

Butter Trailer

Jennifer Garner is probably the most likable Hollywood actress there is, but she's not quite broken through as a a list actress and seems to have left her action roots behind.

With Butter she has taken on what looks like her most entertaining role in some time, playing the ambitious wife of a butter carving legend (Modern Family genius Ty Burrell) who is retiring after 15 years as “Iowa State Butter Carving Champion,”seeing her grasp on "fame" slipping she enters in his place to keep the Pickler name in the spotlight as she takes on a young adopted girl ( Yara Shahidi) and her husband's stripper mistress (Olivia Wilde), for the title.

The oddball comedy also stars Hugh Jackman and Alicia Silverstone and seems like it will be a mixture of quirky comedy and human drama. Butter will be available On Demand on September 7 before opening in cinemas on October 5th.

L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - First Look

Making an independent grass roots films is never easy, especially when you are tackling material from the sci fi or fantasy genre, but writer Sean Gates and director Clayton Spinney have done just that with great results.

Below you can get a first look at their adaption of the L. Frank Baum classic with two clips that show how well they've captured the different tones of Dorothy's adventure in OZ.

Trouble With The Curve - Official Trailer

Most thought the legendary Clint Eastwood had signed off as an actor with Gran Turismo, but he's back here as an aging Baseball scout who's losing his eyesight and ends up bringing his daughter (Amy Adams) along on one last scouting mission. Justin Timberlake plays a younger baseball scout who has a friendly rivalry with Eastwood and is the romantic interest for Adams.

I'm not sure if this is Oscar bait, I tend to think not despite Eastwoods presence. It looks more like a warm, fun feel good drama to me, a movie that perhaps presents a chance for Clint to sign off with something uplifting as an actor.
