First White House Down Images

Back in 1996 Roland Emmerich created one of the most memorable money-shots ever when he blew the White House up in the sci fi blockbuster 'Independence Day'. Now; 16 years on his new movie is about saving the same iconic building in a film that really does sound like Die Hard in The White House, which is cool in my book.

What I am less sure of is Emmerich, who hasn't directed anything to shout about since the aforementioned ID4, and lead star Tatum, who may be basking in the glory of his success with 21 Jump Street and that film where Rachel McAdams couldn't remember him. Whether he really has the charisma needed to headline a blockbuster aiming for a summer release is still a big question mark.
