Marvel Developing An Iron Fist Movie

According to TOLDJA! Marvel has set plans in place to move forward with a script for an Iron Fist film. They've hired Rich Wilkes (the "XXX" film series) to write the screenplay, which sounds all kinds of retarded to me, but I'm not a Marvel studios exec making these brilliant decisions so who am I to say anything.

In the Marvel Universe, Rand is the son of a wealthy explorer who trains in the mystical arts and eventually gains the power of the legendary Iron Fist, a magical fighting power that gives him indestructible fists. First using the power after his father's death, Rand continued to bear the mantle in the fight against evil. Later, Iron Fist popularly teamed with Luke Cage (Power Man), who allegedly also has his own film in development.

No word yet on who will direct or star, but more importantly I'm wondering if this is one of the planned smaller budget films we heard about before or if this will be a huge budget mega franchise similar to the also previously unknown Iron Man character. Will they introduce Iron Fist in the Avengers film in some capacity, maybe even him and Luke Cage will cameo before moving on to their own individual films. Either that or they may choose to release a short film in front of one of their many upcoming films like also previously reported. But I mean aside from the core fans of the character, who really cares?

Boardwalk Empire Featurette

If you're an HBO junkie like I am watching True Blood, Entourage, Hung...You've seen the trailers for the new 1920's era gangster series from Marton Scorsese Boardwalk Empire, It looks all kinds of awesome.

The new series focuses on Steve Buscemi, who plays the undisputed ruler of Atlantic City  and town Treasurer, Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, who is described as “a political fixer and backroom dealer who is equal parts politician and gangster and equally comfortable in either role.” Check out the nearly 14 minute featurette below and see for yourself why this looks every bit as awesome as the once greatest show on HBO The Sopranos, only set in the 1920's Atlantic City.

Marion Cotillard Joining Batman 3?

According to the some what unscrupulous site Perez Hilton, Marion Cotillard has been offered a role in Batman 3. Apparently his sources are unsure of whether the role was Catwoman or Talia Al Ghul, regardless she reportedly turned down the offer as of now as she’s unsure whether the planned shooting start date of the next Batman movie will clash with other projects she’s either interested in or already committed to, despite the fact that she’s reportedly keen to work with Nolan again.

I wouldn't jump up and down for joy just yet, but I think there could be "some" validity to the rumour. On the other hand though, it's a very obvious rumour that just about any internet troll could have conjured up themselves. For now I would take this with a grain of salt, but still consider that it could be true.

The third and final installment in the Nolan Batman franchise starts filming next spring for July 2012 release date.

Two TV Spots for Devil

Universal Pictures has released two new Tv spots for the upcoming thriller Devil from Producer M. Night Shyamalan, yay?

Does anyone care what M. Night does anymore, I seriously doubt it. After his last outing with the craptacular Last Airbender and the video of him shitting on reporters for questioning his current film making ability while promoting the film, I really would have thought he burned all his bridges, guess not. Even though he's only producing this, if it flops I have a feeling we won't see anything from him for quite some time if ever again.

The plot which I know you don't really care about has to do with a group of people being trapped in an elevator together with the twist being one of them is...the devil! It might actually sound somewhat interesting had Shyamalan's box office poison name not been attached to it.

New Trailer AMC's The Walking Dead

AMC has revealed the trailer for its new series, "The Walking Dead," which premieres with a 90-minute episode on Halloween night, Sunday, October 31, at 10/9c. "The Walking Dead is a six-episode series based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics.

"The Walking Dead" tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal plays Shane, who worked with Rick in the police department before the zombie disaster. Other cast includes Laurie Holden, who plays Andrea, one of two sisters who join the survivors of the zombie plague, Steven Yeun as Glenn, an expert scavenger and Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Rick's wife Lori.

It almost seems like AMC is turning into a new HBO or Showtime with the quality shows they're bringing to the network. Breaking Bad is amazing, form what I hear Mad Men is just as good if not better, and this looks all kinds of awesome as well.

International trailer "Red"

E 1 Entertainment has just released the international trailer for "Red". Opening in theaters on October 15, the Robert Schwentke-directed action comedy stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox, Julian McMahon and Richard Dreyfuss.

I'm not personally familiar with the comic, so I have no idea how accurately this was adapted. But I doubt the majority of general audiences will know the book either. That being said, this looks all kinds of awesome!

The plot from what I can tell revolves around a group of retired CIA "hitmen" that are having a hard time settling into retired life. Bruce Willis being his usual awesome self, Academy Award winner Helen Mirren mowing people down with machine guns, John Malkovich acting bat-shit crazy, and Morgan Freeman...not sure what he's doing, but who cares its Morgan Freeman! An ensemble cast in a ridiculous plot with a shit ton of action, what more could you ask for?

Avengers Plot Details Revealed!

Joss Whedon recently spoke to The Sunday Herald-Sun about the upcoming superhero team up extravaganza The Avengers. Very little new info was actually revealed, but he did tell them Black Widow would not be the only female character in the film.

"It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger", Whedon said of Johansson's part. "But she will not be the only female character".

As far as plot details Whedon revealed that the film will be more a continutation on the current franchise plots as opposed to a direct translation of any individual comic.

"It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles."

The Avengers starts filming this february for a May 2012 release date.

New Writers hired for Ninja Turtles!

It looks like yesterdays leaked email of Paramounts upcoming production slate may have some validity to it after all. The report claimed that Paramount wasn't satisfied with the Ninja Turtles draft handed in by John Fusco, who was brought on board July of last year when the project was being handled by Mirage Studios. Now TOLDJA! is reporting that writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have been hired for close to $1 million to re-write the reboot, they most recently finished a draft on the Highlander reboot for Summit and shared writing credit on the first Iron Man. The studio is apparently looking at the film as a potential "huge franchise" similar to Transformers.

Paramount is fast tracking the film and is looking for a first draft by October in order to take it to directors for a 2012 release. Michael Bays Platinum Dunes is producing along with original producers Scott Mednick, Galen Walker, and Marina Norman. I'm not overly excited about Platinum Dunes handling the project after having butchered several horror remakes and now deciding to go mainstream, but the inclusion of the original producers leaves me with a glimmer of hope this won't be complete trash.

The fast track pace for the production makes perfect sense seeing as Viacoms Nickelodeon acquired the global intellectual property rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for $60 million in partnership with sister company Paramount Pictures for the TV, film and video game franchise which the characters have spawned.

Original Ninja Turtles co-creator was quoted back in 2009 giving his thoughts on the reboot:

“The basic idea, as I understand it, is to do an all live action shoot, with actors and stuntmen in full Turtle suits,” explained Peter Laird, co-creator of the original comic series, to MTV News. “To add expressiveness to the Turtles’ faces which would be difficult if not impossible to get with animatronics and/or puppetry, there would be ‘face replacement,’ with CGI Turtle faces superimposed on the live action performers’ heads.”

If 2012 wasn't awesome enough already and jam packed with blockbusters and tent-poles it only looks to get potentially even better with the addition of the new Ninja Turtles!

Who Will Be The Female Lead in The Spider-Man Reboot?

The Marc Webb directed Spider-Man reboot is currently casting their female lead to be opposite Andrew Garfield as the new web slinger. Heat Vision is reporting to have a shortlist of actresses who could be up for the part.

Also according to the report for a change of pace Mary Jane will NOT be the new love interest in the reboot. Although nothing is official yet speculation would most likely lead to either Gwen Stacy or Felicia Hardy. Then again there's also a possibility they'll use an entirely unknown character made just for the film. Once the role is cast I'd expect an announcement to follow shortly after.

The "short list" from Heat Vision is as follows:

Lily Collins, Ophelia Lovibond, Imogen Poots, Teresa Palmer and Emma Roberts.
