The "google' Movie Being Planned

According to TOLDJA! plans are set in place to adapt Ken Auletta's novel Googled: The End of the World as we Know it  into a feature film, yay?

Michael London's Groundswell Productions along with producer John Morris acquired the movie rights last year, and plan to use the novel as inspiration to tell the story of Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Just last year google made and astonishing $20 billion in ad revenue, making the lucky bastard founders that much more wealthy, why wouldn't someone make a movie about them.

I guess we really shouldn't be too surpsied about this though, after all we are getting the facebook movie aka The Social Network this October form the very talented director David Fincher. I have to wonder though, will the google movie bring in as much talent, both in the directors chair and on screen.

Piranha 3D For Your Oscar Consideration

A lot of great films have come out this year, Inception, Shutter Island, Toy Story 3, but were any of them anywhere near as epic as the upcoming Piranha 3D? The stars don't think so, and that's why they've gotten together to put there support forward for Oscar nominations in every and any category.

Check out Jerry O'Connell, the douche bag brother from Step Brothers and several other cast members most of which I've never heard of as they convince you of Piranha 3D's Oscar clout. Apparently one of the cast members was on the cover of Playboy, that's enough for me, what about you?

New Trailer Wes Craven's "My Soul To Take"

The new trailer for Wes craven's My Soul To Take is now online. I've always loved Cravens films, but I'm not entire sold on this one just yet. The trailer didn't really do anything for me, and at this point I think I'd rather see Craven's Scream 4 next April over this.

My Soul to Take, written and directed by Craven, tells the the story of a legendary serial killer in Riverton, Massachusetts who swears that he'll one day return to kill the local children born on the night of his death. Now sixteen years later, seven teens are forced to face the supernatural possibility that he may have been reincarnated as one of them.

New Trailer "Black Swan"

Fox Searchlight has released the first teaser trailer for Darren Aronofsky's upcoming Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Vincent Cassel. If at first the thought of Aronofsky directing a ballet film had you scratching your head the trailer should reassure you of the incredible talent he brings to each film regardless of the premise.

The tone of the film is said to be compared to certain classic thrillers. Aronofsky's raw style is still very much present and there's already a great buzz for the film which will open this years Venice Film Festival next month. This will mark the third consecutive film of Aronofsky's to premiere at the festival, following The Fountain and The Wrestler.

The film will also receive a limited release on December 1, 2010.

Black Swan follows the story of Nina (Portman), a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica (Barbara Hershey) who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy (Vincent Cassel) decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre (Winona Ryder) for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily (Kunis), who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.

Brooklyn Decker Joins Battleship!

Latino Review has just learned that ridiculously smokin' hot Victoria Secret and 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Model Brooklyn Decker has been cast in the role of "Sam" opposite Taylor Kitsch in Universals Battleship. The casting reminds me somewhat of Megan Fox in Transformers, or more recently Rosie Huntington in Transformers 3, not that I'm complaining.

It was also recently reported that the budget for Battleship is nearing a number exceeding 200 million. Apparently the studio had even considered pulling the plug on the project all together due to it being such a large budget tent-pole with no major star power being attached. But maybe the addition of Decker has won Universal execs over for now.

I'm personally not convinced the film was a great idea to begin with, especially not on such a large budget for an untested property. Then again it's possible Berg will prove all of us wrong.

Written by the Hoeber Brothers and to be directed by Peter Berg, Decker also joins Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna.

Based on the Hasbro board game, the big budget film is about a naval fleet that must defend our planet from Alien Invaders.

The studio is targeting a May 18, 2012 release.

Captain America Set Photos!

The Media Club was lucky enough to find the Captain America set located within Bourne Woods in Farnham, Surrey and they've posted three photos online. Nothing crazy was actually revealed, but it's something for now.

The Joe Johnston-directed adaptation is now filming for a July 22, 2011 release. The film stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Neal McDonough.

Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

New Trailer "Im Still Here"

So Joaquin isn't bat shit crazy? Yeah I never would have figured this was all a hoax until now. The new trailer for the mockumentary "Im Still Here" is now online. The funny thing about the trailer is, it treats the film as if it were a "real" serious documentary, this should be hilarious!

The directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Casey Affleck, I’M STILL HERE is a striking portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of internationally acclaimed actor Joaquin Phoenix. With remarkable access, I’M STILL HERE follows the Oscar-nominee as he announces his retirement from a successful film career in the fall of 2008 and sets off to reinvent himself as a hip hop musician. Sometimes funny, sometimes shocking, and always riveting, the film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads. Defying expectations, it deftly explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.

Be on the look out for Stanley Steamers and other absurd acts in your local theater this September 10th when Joaquin Phoenix shows everyone just how "crazy" he really is.

I’M STILL HERE opens in theaters September 10, 2010. Also available on VOD starting Friday, September 24, 2010

New Images From Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Warner Bros has released several high-res images from their upcoming Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows the first of a two part finale due out November 19th of this year with Part Two hitting July 15th, 2011.

I'm not much of a Harry Potter nut, but I'll admit I am interested to see how the franchise concludes. For the rest of the images none of which I wouldn't consider spoilerish go HERE.

Oliver Platt Joining X-Men First Class

Holy shit balls the ridiculously long list of casting for X-Men First Class continues, TOLDJA! is reporting that Oliver Platt has now also joined the cast, but surprisingly he will NOT be a mutant unlike the other 500 mutants appearing in the film already. His character is known as "The Man in Black", which I'm assuming has no relation to legendary singer Johnny Cash.

The ridiculously long list of stars in this film is as follows, James McAvoy as Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Lucas Till as Havoc, and Edi Gathegi as Darwin. Kevin Bacon is playing the villain and Rose Byrne will play McAvoy's love interest Moira MacTaggert.

Production is expected to start next month in London for a June 3, 2011 release date.

Rooney Mara Cast in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara have been cast in the lead roles of Columbia Pictures’ three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s literary blockbuster The Millennium Trilogy under the direction of David Fincher. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – the first film of the series, which also includes The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest – begins shooting next month in Sweden. The screenplay is written by Steve Zaillian and the film is being produced by Scott Rudin, Cean Chaffin, Ole Sondberg and Søren Stærmose. Mikael Wallen and Anni Fernandez are executive producers. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is set for worldwide release December 21, 2011.

The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson has been published in 44 countries and has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide thus far. In the U.S. alone, the series has sold over 10 million copies, and the sales were recently calculated at the remarkable rate of one book per second. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has broken sales records in virtually every country in which it has been published. It has sold over 5 million copies in the U.S. and has out-sold any other e-book in that rapidly expanding market. A literary phenomenon, all three books currently sit atop the New York Times Best Seller lists. In describing the scale of Larsson’s achievement, The Economist said: “Stieg Larsson’s vivid characters, the depth of the detail across the three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of its genre.” Michiko Kakutani, of The New York Times, described the Lisbeth character: “Lisbeth Salander, Stieg Larsson’s fierce pixie of a heroine, is one of the most original characters in a thriller to come along in a while – a gamin, Audrey Hepburn look-alike but with tattoos and piercings, the take-no-prisoners attitude of Lara Croft and the cool, unsentimental intellect of Mr. Spock. She is the vulnerable victim turned vigilante; a willfully antisocial girl . . . who has proved herself to be as incandescently proficient as any video game warrior.” The three novels have all become #1 worldwide bestsellers, an achievement unrivaled in trade book publishing.

DAVID FINCHER most recently directed this fall’s much-anticipated The Social Network for Columbia Pictures, which opens in the U.S. on October 1st.

DANIEL CRAIG recently starred in the two highest-grossing films in the James Bond franchise, Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale. His earlier film roles include Munich, Enduring Love, Layer Cake, The Mother, Road to Perdition, and Some Voices. He has also recently completed filming on Jim Sheridan’s Dream House, Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, and Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens.

Before she was cast in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, Rooney Mara starred in THE WINNING SEASON!

Mara will also appear in this fall’s THE SOCIAL NETWORK. But if you can’t wait until then, catch her in THE WINNING SEASON, opening in theaters September 3, 2010!!!
