Movie Moan: Trash Talk, Trailers & Transformers
It's official.
Nobody has to listen to any of Jamie's claims ever again. For the second time this summer, he's gone against his own promises and watched a movie he claimed he wouldn't. That's right, he sat through Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Be warned, by the end of this week's show the relationship between Jamie and Phil will be forever changed. Here's what is on docket for this show:
3 mins - Transformers: Dark of the Moon review (includes exclusive footage of Michael Bay's cut of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King).
35:30 mins - Trailer reactions to War Horse (aka Jamie Vs. Everyone Else).
39 mins - Trailer reactions to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (aka support your British film industry).
41:35 mins - Trailer reactions to Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (aka where's Ving Rhames?).
47:40 mins -Trailer reactions to Paul 'weak-shit' Anderson's The Three Musketeers (aka Jamie goes too far).
As always, please enjoy us as an MP3 below or as a visual treat above.

OPTIMUS DOESN'T HAVE MOOD SWINGS
Phill, your nerd/geek colours have never glimmered brighter. Nice podcast guy, however I've gotta come down on you for this one.
LotR is one of the most dragged out endings to a movie ever, it's funny that you referenced it. Why would you want the ending to TF3 to be longer anyway? So you can bitch about how much shorter it could have been. The most abrupt ending to a film ever? right. The crew raised what they thought were plot holes or a sort, I figured I'd take a crack as answering all of them.
0. the ark landed on the moon, it's as serviceable a contrives as why Peter Parker got bit buy the one radio active spider on the planet, didn't die but rather became a god and then had a meteor rock land right next to him. Same goes for Jor-el choosing earth....just go with it, you have in the past.
1. The ark was shot down down by the Decepticons, not Megatron. It was a secret deal in the mist and towards the end of a planetary war. All the auto bot ships look alike...how were they to know sPrime was on that ship in particular....use your imagination, put some effort into putting the pieces together. Bay may be dumb but that doesn't mean we have to be. Nor does it mean in a 2hr film that we need our hands held.
2. Just because the cons are here to amass slaves, doesn't mean they won't soften up the resistance. Especially on the terrain they are setting up their head quarters. How many "humans" did the Romans kill in their pursuit of slaves?
3. The Megan Fox character was always "mean" to the little robots, for them to say she was "mean" is hardly dragging her name through the mud. Ignoring the fact that in real life she did say some outright "mean" things. I just don't get where this idea that they spent all their time shitting on her comes from. She dumped him. She's done it before, and she could have done it again. Just seems like you're looking too far into it.
4. Megatron was hiding in Africa. "Robots in disguise." It's easy to forget that basic concept I know, but It's not easy finding these things when they don't want to be found.
5. Phill, interesting idea about pushing the character betrayal to the last act, might have made for a better(slower) movie, but let's face it, if bay signed off on it, you have probably hated that too.
6. Ken Jeong, has been doing this comedy bit for years, but I guess no one told him that if he does it in a Michael Bay movie, that's when people will start hating on him. And yes he actually got naked in the hangover, in TF it was handled in what you may call a "subtle way." That's something I've never understood, as bad as the first 90 mins of TF3 is, films like the Hangover are 2 hours of nothing but this, yet we give them(the first one) high praise but bash bay for executing similar intent, in movies with far more to give.
7. Dempsey was making the best of a situation. He worked with the cons cause for one, they would kill him if he didn't(end of argument), and two because he believed they would win. This one gripe in particular seemed overly dumb.
8. The world leaders(not that they had a choice), believed that Sentinel would hold true to his word and simply take resources once the cons were done, but his terms hinged on the Autobots were exile. Optimus "LEFT" because like he said before; humans have the right to choose. He's always respected their decisions and he said he would leave at the drop of a hat if it was their choice. Good Guy remember? What's he gonna do tell the humans to fuck off and save them against their will.
OH WAIT...
8.5, Chicago got destroyed, the world got saved, I'd say they did the best they could given the situation.
9. In a fun summer movie, sometimes it's fun to have cool actors playing over the top comedy bits. I seem to remember a certain Editor in Chief running away with the spider-man movies in such as way. Sure Sam's boss could have been a character plucked from the dark knight universe, but what the hell is so awful about J. Jonah Jameson? It's like people turn into assholes when they watch these movies or something. If anything, the Cohen brothers alum that appeared in this movie are half as crazy as when they appear in the Cohen films...especially Mcdormand.
10. oh no, star trek references! um...am I missing something?
11. Optimus is a man at war, you should be afraid of him, he kills his enemies just as Tom Hanks would and did in his war movie. It's very human. Moreover, so what, wolverine kills people and we love him for it.
12. At the end of the day the film is somewhat of a letdown. It could have been better and no one can deny that. But after what you people went on and on about to justify your hatred for the second, this film deserves a crap load of praise on premise alone. People are enjoying it and not enjoying things like green lantern. Apparently First Class was great but no one seemed to care, apparently because the previous films in said series ware utter crap. Why then are people giving TF3 a chance when it's coming off the "worst film in history" and two films after the "second worst film in history!?!?" Probably for the same reason people enjoyed piranha 3D...cause it's fun...in spite of people telling them what it should be.
Overall, I thought it was serviceable, not great but not worth the obligatory hate what I hate that internet loves to spew. That LOTR ending was priceless though. Not sure about all the bootlegged footage you guys displayed though.
Steam Punk Musketeers is actually a viable concept. Too bad it's directed by someone who must be shit on.
Spot on about MI:4
Look forward to the next moan.
