Joe Cornish Might Direct Your STAR TREK 3 Movie

Since ol' J.J. Abrams has shipped off to a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars Episode VII, Deadline seems to have information that Paramount is eying Attack The Block director Joe Cornish for it's sequel to this summers Star Trek Into Darkness.

I’m hearing the studio is sweet on Joe Cornish to direct the next film. Cornish made his feature directorial debut on Attack The Block, the saga of a group of British youths who stave off an alien invasion in their rough neighborhood.

Sadly, it appears that although we'll be getting a new director to bodly go with the sexy cast into the depths of space, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will still be on board for the sequel.

Deadline is also keen on saying Paramount is reading to shoot in 2014, so no 3-year hiatus between films like 2009-2013's wait period.

It’s early days on this, but stay tuned. Paramount is readying the movie to shoot in summer, 2014. Cornish is repped by CAA.

Star Trek Into Darkness finished it's run with $228 million, which was less than the sexy 2009 reboot pulled, $257 million, and while Into Darkness wasn't a flop by any means, it certainly wasn't a giant money-maker, with a lot of criticism pointed at the film's script and unnecessary secrecy regarding the villain , Benedict Cumberbacth as Kahn, which everyone knew before the film's first trailer even came out.

What do you all think? Excited? Still, nothing is confirmed; but expect more in the coming months.

Oscar Nominee John Sayles Releases New "Go For Sisters" Trailer & Poster

Bernice (LisaGay Hamilton) and Fontayne (Yolonda Ross) grew so close people said they could “go for sisters”, but time sent them down different paths. Twenty years later, those paths cross: Fontayne is a recovering addict fresh out of jail, and Bernice is her new parole officer.

When Bernice’s son Rodney goes missing on the Mexican border, his shady associates all in hiding or brutally murdered, Bernice realizes she needs someone with the connections to navigate Rodney’s world without involving the police… and turns to her old friend. The pair enlist the services of disgraced ex-LAPD detective Freddy Suárez (Edward James Olmos) and plunge into the dim underbelly of Tijuana, forced to unravel a complex web of human traffickers, smugglers, and corrupt cops before Rodney meets the same fate as his partners. As much a story of relationships as a story of crime, GO FOR SISTERS is a welcome return to the border for master filmmaker and 2-time Oscar nominee John Sayles (“Lone Star,” “Passion Fish”).

Jake Gyllenhaal in Talks to Star in Boxing Drama 'Southpaw'

Following two fantastic performances in both last year's End of Watch and this year's Prisoners, Jake Gyllenhaal is close to signing on for the boxing drama, Southpaw.

The film, which was to originally star rapper Eminem in the title role, tells the story of a left-handed prizefighter who after being hit by tragedy, must earn back both his career and the respect of his young daughter.

Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) is set to direct with Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) having written the script.

The project was originally set up over at Dreamworks, then after going through the hands of both Sony and MGM, the Weinstein Comapny rescued it.  Eminem was going to play the 'father fighting for redemption' to parallel his real-life story, but the rapper decided to drop out even though director Fuqua stayed on-board.

Gyllenhaal - whose getting early Oscar buzz for his work in Prisoners - seems to finally be hitting the phase for more mature, dramatic roles as he's currently filming the crime thriller, Nightcrawler, playing a underground journalist (explaining is recent gaunt appearance).

Southpaw is set to start shooting next year so expect more news on the project in the coming months.

NEW Trailer for THE LEGO MOVIE- Best Film of 2014? Yes.

When you say Legos, you think either stepping on one in the dak and uttering every swear word under the sun, or happy memories as a child, combining minifigures and sets into your own awesome little world, or both.

Well, the creators of  21 Jump Street and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs are taking the latter, and bringing you a beautifully animated adventure through the Lego world, and this second trailer for the 2014 film, The Lego Movie, starring Chris Pratt, Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, and Liam Neeson.

As a fan of Legos for all of my known life, I'm mega excited for this. What do you guys think? Is it crude, or is it funny enough to appeal to all ages?

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Chris Pratt (“Moneyball”) stars as the voice of Emmet. Will Ferrell (“The Campaign”) stars as the voice of his primary adversary, President Business, an erudite, anal-retentive CEO who has a hard time balancing world domination with micro-managing his own life; while Liam Neeson (“Taken” and “Taken 2,” Oscar nominee for “Schindler’s List”) voices the president’s powerful henchman, known as Bad Cop, who will stop at nothing to catch Emmet.

Starring as Emmet’s fellow travelers are Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”), as Vitruvius, an old mystic; Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games,” Emmy nominee for “30 Rock”), as tough-as-nails Lucy, who mistakes Emmet for the savior of the world and guides him on his quest; Will Arnett (Emmy nominee, “30 Rock”), as the mysterious Batman, a LEGO minifigure with whom Lucy shares a history; Nick Offerman (NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”) as a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Alison Brie (NBC’s “Community”) as a sweet, loveable member of the team, with a powerful secret.

The Lego Movie constructs it's way into the hearts and minds of all on Feb. 7, 2014 in 3D and 2D.

Gerard Butler to stab more heads in 'London Has Fallen'

With Olympus Has Fallen easily winning the White House invasion battle against White House Down, it shouldn't be surprising to see producer Millennium Films greenlighting a sequel, per Screen Daily. The follow-up, appropriately titled London Has Fallen, concerns our favorite secret service agent, the President of the United States, and a British MI6 agent foiling a plot to strike London during the funeral of the British Prime Minister. Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, and Radha Mitchell all return, with Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger also penning the screenplay.

Olympus director Antoine Fuqua isn't expected to return (he's deep into post-production on The Equalizer), so Millennium Films is offering the project to prospective directors. The film will begin production in London early May 2014, with a spring 2015 release date eyed. Focus Features will distribute the film domestically, with Millennium handling international sales.
