The Wolf Of Wall Street

Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio may be teaming up again for The Wolf Of Wallstreet.

The story centers around Jordan Belfort, the founder of brokerage firm in the 80's and 90's who eventually went to jail for financial fraud. The film was intended for Martin Scorcese to direct but being tied up with other projects, he decided to hand it off to Scott.

Scorcese isn't the only one with scheduling conflicts however, Ridley Scott is attached with Fox to work on an Alien prequel in 3D and Dicaprio is line up to play J. Edgar Hoover in Clinteastwood's biopic Hoover.

I was really impressed with Body of Lies which Scott and DiCaprio worked on together, so I'm hoping that the schedules will allow the two to take on what seems like a really interesting story.

Interational Poster for Piranha 3D

Latino Review has posted the international poster to the film that is sure to make Steven Spielberg blush, Piranha 3D.

All sarcasm aside, I am honestly excited for this flick. By its name, poster and synopsis it already tells you that this is an asinine concept but we are going to do it anyway. The poster has clearly drawn inspiration from the original Jaws poster and gives the only explanation you probably really need.

I saw a trailer of this attached to a 3-D movie at some point last year and it looked awful in that format. Hopefully they smooth it all out to make a fine looking film. I'll certainly be catching the 2-D version if the trailers continue to look like my five year old nephew made them.

Virginia Madsen Joins Red Riding Hood

Virginia Madsen has joined the cast of another classic tale re-imagined, Red Riding Hood.

Taking place in a medieval setting, the supernatural thriller will be hitting theatres next year in March. Madsen joins what already looks to be a formidable cast in Lukas Haas, Shiloh Fernandez, Julie Christie and Gary Oldman.

Reading more on this take of the story, Warner Brothers is asking for something along the lines of a Twilight styled romance with the supernatural elements woven throughout. There has also been talk of the film taking a much darker tone, almost to the extent of horror but the two styles being bounced around don't seem to cooperate into a cohesive unit at this point.

I'm beginning to picture some similarities with M. Night Shyamayan's The Village. If they take that route I think this could be a really interesting version of the beloved children's tale.

5inal Destination... Yeah

In what is surely a stroke of genius from the studio's, Bloody Disguisting has uncovered what looks like the next installment of the gory franchise that is Final Destination will be called 5inal Destination. The site also reports what the opening sequence of death entails which will guarantee heavy pre-order button clicking action.

The third movie was wearing out its welcome while the fourth was just a bit of nonsense and now our local theatres will be graced with another 3D mayhem fest that is sure to be as pointless as the last two. This follows the recently announced SCRE4M and maybe more horror films will follow.

I've lost count with the Saw seires but if it hasn't reached seven yet don't be too surprised if we see 7AW!

Top Gun The Sequel?

MTV recently talked with producer Jerry Bruckheimer about the upcoming The Sourcerers Apprentice and were able to get a bit of information out of him about the possibility of a Top Gun sequel:

"We tried to develop [a sequel] and we couldn't do it-- I was with my partner Don Simpson," Bruckheimer explained. "And then Tom took it over and he tried to develop something and it never quite happened." That's all in the past though. It turns out that "Top Gun" has been the subject of much more recent sequel discussions as well.

"We were recently approached again to start talking about it but, you know, nothing yet," he continued. "We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it."

If you've been following TMT's podcast, Crashing Hollywood then you know I am gathering quite a list of classic movies that are must see. Now we can add Top Gun to this ever growing list. From friends telling me its one of the great 80's movies and that the soundtrack is one of the best of all time, I believe its well past time to view the original. Either way I'm sure this news of a potential sequel is sure to get fans of the original excited. Everything else is being remade or 'sequeled' so why not this?

The Night Chronicles: Devil To Get An Early Release Date

Shocktillyoudrop.com has reported that The Night Chronicles: Devil directed by John Erick and Drew Dowdle will see an earlier release date than planned. Moved from February 11, 2011, to this years September 17th, Devil is one in a series of horror-thriller styled movies being produced by M. Night Shyamalan. Details about the movie are still being kept tightly hidden from general public at this point.

It will be interesting to see what reaction these movies receive not only in reviews but also at the box office. Lately Shyamalan's films have been a miss with the movie going audience and its hard to say how his Last Airbender will fare going up against the monster hit that is The Twilight Saga.

Back to the Future Gets The Blu-ray Treatment

The Back to the Future trilogy is making its way to the Blu-Ray format. Big news really is Eric Stoltz is going to be seen as Marty Mcfly in some of the extra features. This is sure to be a hot item on the pre-order list with a strong following of fans. I can't wait to see how this transfers over to the Blu-ray format.

IESB has a look at all the special features making it onto this classic.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Screenshots

As I write this, the Deathly Hallows trailer is already premiering at Yahoo! Movies. I am eager to finish up and see what is in store in this final installment of the hugely popular series. USAToday.com has some screenshots from the trailer that debuted earlier. From the first official trailer and the look of these screenshots, it looks as though all the stops will be pulled out from this one and old Voldy and Harry will get to duke it out in an ultimate climatic battle.

First Full Length Trailer for NBC's 'The Cape'

NBC has released the first full length trailer for their new superhero styled drama.  A good cop has been falsely framed for a deviant crime and must go into hiding while trying to clear his name and eventually connect with his family again.

The trailer lets on with a good bit of information in what we can expect from this series. Its hard to say how audiences are going to react with this one. Some of the events in the trailer come off a bit campy but I enjoy how much it feels like its straight from the page of a comic.  Reminds me a lot of 'The Flash' series years ago starring John Wesley Shipp.

Hopefully its good enough that audiences catch on to what looks to be a more fun and adventurous show parallel to what 'Heroes' is giving us. There is plenty of room on television for more than one main stream comic inspired show.

Transformers 3 Headed In The Right Direction?

Remember in Transformers 2 how funny those two, hip to the times but not crossing any lines with how closely they attempted to portray a certain ethnic group, Mudflap and Skids were? I sure don't.

It seems Michael Bay has taken more than one persons advice on the ill conceived robotic ice cream truck twins, and has decided to ban their involvement with the next installment of the Transformers franchise. A report from iesb.net says he has confirmed such on his forum:

"The twins are not back in T3."

So there you go folks. You have confirmation from the horses mouth or ass, whichever you like, that the two will be banned from the next film. He still has plenty of time to consult with George Lucas on whether or not Jar Jar Binks should make an appearance in the films climax.
