Trailer for The Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis

"Inside Llewyn Davis follows a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles—some of them of his own making."

Christopher Nolan & Matthew McConaughey On the Interstellar Set

Courtesy of the Nolan Fans Forum is our first look at Matthew McConaughey (looking like he's still kept the weight off from The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyers Club) and director Christopher Nolan on the set of Interstellar. Hey, there's an IMAX camera too!

Not much else to add. Being a Nolan Joint means secrecy will be a top priority until concrete info gets officially released, probably next summer. So be prepared to know dick 'till then.

Benedict Cumberbatch Exits Crimson Peak

Past the halfway mark in 2013 and despite the efforts made by the Hype machine including a vocal Internet following, this has not been the year of Benedict Cumberbatch. The British thesp still has several high-profile gigs dropping in the closing months of this year including the voice of Smaug in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, real-life weasel Julian Assange in Bill Condon's The Fifth Estate and Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave.

However his turn as Khan, the worst-kept/laziest secret in showbiz in Star Trek Into Darkness was supposed to be the breakout. The one that made him a household name; essentially what happened to Jennifer Lawrence after The Hunger Games last year. But it wasn't; probably due to the sequel sucking (Fuck you very much, Simon Pegg - You don't like criticism toward your movies but it was OK all those years you shit-talked the Star Wars prequels?) and his performance, let's be honest, not being that interesting. He may wind up being a repeat Tom Hardy; a very good, and at times great, actor who just isn't leading man/movie-star material but will never stop getting work. Too soon to reach that verdict, I'll admit.

In the meantime, the Sherlock star is making his schedule a bit lighter. As per The Hollywood Reporter, he has dropped out of his planned participation in the Guillermo del Toro-directed frightener Crimson Peak. No reason for the split was given though it is reportedly unrelated to a rival project. Knowing the Internet, there will rumors he is up for Batman in no time.

Next WB/Guy Ritchie Collaboration Set - Already Sounds Better than Man From U.N.C.L.E.

As he phases out of prep and into principal photography for Man From U.N.C.L.E. (Even studio peeps confessed, "Dude, I don’t know why they’re making this waste-of-time either!"), Guy Ritchie and Warner Brothers have begun preliminary development on what could be his next directorial feature.

The studio has optioned Empire Rising with Thomas Kelly, the novel's author, assinged to adapt it into screenplay form. The story set around the construction of the Empire Building (Hence the title) between an artist called Grace Masterson, a steelworker running guns for the IRA on the side and a bagman for then-Mayor Jimmy Walker.

They're Making an Act of Valor Sequel, Kids

Act of Valor touted a cast made up of active-duty Navy SEALs (and no-name character actors). Hence it cost $1.50 to produce. So when it did $70 million stateside, it was a success. And Relativity Media can thank their "Featuring Real-Life Navy SEALs" marketing gimmick. That fact is not lost on the studio as they are reportedly gearing up for a sequel.

The focus will shift gears to SWAT officers this time out. Scott Wiper will direct.

Clint Eastwood Taking Over American Sniper for Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg was set to make American Sniper, the story of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle with Bradley Cooper attached to star. Until he decided against it, pulling not only his directorial duties but yanking DreamWorks out of the equation leaving Warner Brothers to find a replacement.

Twitch says the studio has gone to their homebound Clint Eastwood who has reportedly "gotten the nod" for taking over the job. Old Clint is more hit-and-miss than the slobbering critics who give him a free pass want to admit (Changeling, Hereafter, J. Edgar, Gran Torino). But I have to say, he seems more appropriate for this subject matter than the Beard.

No word on if Cooper remains onboard or if this will be his next project after completing the musical Jersey Boys for the Brothers Warner.

Parkland Trailer is a Bland Recreation of a National Tragedy

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy changed everything as we know it. Politics, war, the presidency itself. In the 50 years since the tragedy, it has revisited from every possible angle in all formats. If one is going to go back to that period onscreen (a subject matter I myself am fascinated by), bring something new to the table.

That doesn't appear to be the case with Parkland, the drama from first-time helmer Peter Landesman, producer Tom Hanks and a cast featuring Zac Efron, Colin Hanks, Paul Giamatti, Marcia Gay Harden, Ron Livingston, Billy Bob Thornton and Jackie Weaver. It looks like a movie-of-the-week. For such a history-changing event, everything feels small.

You'll Believe Steve Carell Can Look Freaky

It takes a minute to get used to.

Yes, that is Steve Carell. The comedy-star, known for loveable doofus Michael Scott on The Office, brain-dead Brick Tamland in Anchorman and the voice of Clu in Despicable Me, is going outside his comfort zone with Foxcatcher, the drama from director Bennett Miller due out December 20th.

The film details the relationship between John DuPont (played by Carell) and Olympic wrestling brothers Mark and David Schultz (Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo) before it ended with murderous results.
