The Brothers Warner Get Mad, Release "Suicide Squad" Trailer
I honestly don't know why it surprises a studio that bootleg footage of some kind would come out of a presentation at Comic-Con anymore. Especially footage from a big nerd film like Suicide Squad. Trust me, I'm not condoning bootlegging of a studio's property, I just expect this to happen at these giant conventions.
Apparently it pisses Warner Bros off to no end and they decided, "If you can't beat them, join them" releasing the Comic-Con trailer after trying unsuccessfully to stall the virus like spread of the illegally obtained material.
Here is a statement from Sue Kroll, President Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution At Warner Bros:
“Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.”
The studio had no choice in this case if you ask me, but considering the mostly positive reception the trailer is getting, seems like a win despite the lawyer-like statement from Kroll aimed at an overzealous fanboy.
Enjoy the trailer below and get your first real glimpse of Jared Leto's Joker and hear the Heath Ledger like voice for the first time in HD.
