Michael Cerveris Rumored To Be Up For Lex Luthor

We at TMT heard from some of our trusted sources many months ago that the character of Lex Luthor was  in early drafts of the "Man Of Steel" script, and according to MovienewZ the maniacal billionaire is still on the mind of The Brothers Warner.

Character actor Michael Cerveris, best known for playing The Observer on the FOX television show ‘Fringe’, can be added to the list of names being considered for the role of Superman’s arch-nemeses Lex Luthor, however, the self-proclaimed “Greatest criminal mind of our time” wont likely appear until the Man Of Steel follow up.

I'm sure some of you will rant and rave for close minded reasons such as; "The site has a "Z" at the end of it's title?" or "I've never heard of that site!" Well let's not turn our backs just yet. The same website you might be questioning posted the synopsis for "Man of Steel" months before it was officially released. They were also the first site to mention Matthew Goode was in the running for Superman, which was confirmed to be true.

All of that said, there are some glaring holes in the exclusive. The website mentions a "list of names". I'm not sure we've read of any contenders for Lex Luthor in "Man Of Steel". Have we? In addition, why would WB be casting for a sequel that may or may not happen?

If this rumor has any legs at all, it might be possible that this actor was up for the role at one point but Luthor has already been cast or removed from the script. Another possibility is that the studio is still actively casting for what would be a smaller role and will be shooting scenes involving the character in Vancouver.
