This Loser is Why Superman Renounced His U.S. Citizenship

My pal Ron Purtee said it best with this tweet.

I don't know if this is fake or not. Perhaps this is the real McCoy. There are people who act that way in real life surprisingly. Either way, check out this schmuck's (supposedly) live nerdgasming to the last few minutes of Superman: Cockblock. Definitely got some loud chuckles out of me.

Why he's even excited is beyond me since Tom Welling never wears the red-and-blue suit, that's clearly Brandon Routh's CG body-double from Superman Returns and...that tee-shirt. I'm sorry to those who've (somehow and still) convinced themselves Welling likes the Superman lore and respects his fans. Total dick move in my never-so-humble opinion. Fans have been wanting to see him in full-on Man of Steel mode (iconic suit and all) and he didn't do it.

I think that there are several reasons they didn't show him studded out head to toe as Superman. 1st one that always comes up is that he didn't fit the build. But I believe that with movie magic anything is possible. So scratch that. Next is the legal thing about Supes appearing on screen whilst still in litigation with creators. I don't think they would have been able to run Smallville without concessions. (From what I heard most of the disputed material did revolve around Clark Lois & and the origin. So that ain't the reason. What I believe.
I believe that the creators wanted the show to be about Clark Kent, they took 10 years to tell that story about the molding of the man into Superman. If they showed Welling decked out as Superman that would always be the photo associated with the series, every time someone referred back to Smallville they'd show Welling in the costume. Superman costume = hits.
I also believed that the studio didn't want to associate Welling as Superman because of the new film being released. So they wussed out.

That - or - Tom Welling never wanted to be Superman. NTNF was in there for him. He never wanted to wear the suit. He refused to be in the Superman Documentary that was made around the time of SR (the only living Superman to refuse, by the way), and he is now the EP on Smallville and had the authority at this point to say "No, I'm not wearing it."

That's what happened. Superman was being played by a guy who never wanted to play Superman.

I agree, Justin. That has to be the reason. Nothing else really makes sense. I've watched the show from the beginning and it was my favorite show for the last 10 years, however I am saddened to say that it went on at least 3 seasons too long (more like 5 or 6) and they really copped out on the ending, as I was afraid that they would.
