"GI Joe 2" coming 2012?

MTV recently talked to G.I Joe producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura about the upcoming sequel.
Although they don't actually have a finished copy of the script yet, he hopes they'll be in production for next spring, setting them up for a summer 2012 release date.
he wouldn't confirm which of the cast was returning or who would be directing, and when asked about shooting in 3D, he said:
"No, I mean we're still working on getting the script. I'd definitely be open to it, but that's Paramount's decision. But myself and whoever the director is would have a big say in that. But at this point, we haven't gotten into that conversation."
I personally hoped that G.I. Joe 2 would never see the light of day. The first one was awful, I can't believe that was even made, but it did go on to make 300 million world wide at the box office. I would think this time around if we actually see the sequel get made, it won't be doing as well at the box office, the curiosity is no longer there, and the turd has shown it self.
As it stands already, 2012 is looking like a very busy year. We have the Spider-Man reboot, The Avengers, and the newly confirmed Batman 3 and Superman reboot.
With all this to look forward to, does anyone really want to spend their hard earned money on a G.I Joe sequel?

GI Joe wasn't that bad, but I don't think it should get a sequel either. I doubt this gets made
