Mike Tyson Returning for The Hangover 2
A sequel as questionable as The Hangover 2 (creatively-speaking, certainly not commercially for Warner Brothers/Legendary Pictures) doesn't need this kind of press.
That's why I'd love to pull average folks (those who don't religiously follow the film scene like us) on camera and get their take on the public mess of hiring Mel Gibson, only for some in the cast (notice I didn't add "and crew") to throw a hissy-fit about working with him and Mad Mel's ass being shown the door.
I think most would belong in the "You won’t work with bigot Gibson, but you had no problem working with convicted-rapist Mike Tyson?" crowd.
Speaking of Tyson (who admittedly was very funny in the original – yes, I too can separate a performance on camera from what someone does off camera), director Todd Phillips confirmed in a interview with Details he will return for the sequel. Again, as much as I feel bad for Phillips for this nonsense, he's partly to blame for not thinking including Gibson wouldn't sit well with everyone. To be fair, maybe he assumed the cast would be, you know, professionals?
Such as Tyson who confirmed to the New York Post of his appearance, and gave his thoughts of Mel-gate:
"I'm not going to ever in my life point my finger at anyone. I don't live in a glass house. None of us do. I work with anybody, as long as they're respectful."
Very true words - honestly everything he said in the article I agreed with. It's interesting to see how he's coming off the best in this whole ordeal.
