More Images of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, "Oh Yeah, Paul Giamatti Is In This Too"

Well yesterday we had the Entertainment Weekly cover of Electro and Spider-Man about to kiss, now, thanks to CBM, we get a glimpse at nothing we haven't seen before from all the assloads of set-pics and spy-shots.

Images including the hilariously already type-cast Dane Dehaan as Bob Dylan Harry Osborn, Andrew Garfield's fantastic hair, the costume, and Electro has an SD card slapped into the side of his face, as well as Paul Giamatti as The Rhino.

In “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Daniel Dehaan, Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Paul Giamatti, Colm Feore, and Sally Field; and swings it's way into theaters May 2, 2014.

George Romero's Day of the Dead Getting Remade (Again)

Sad to think George Romero struggled against the Hollywood system to do what your average The Walking Dead episode does every week. Even the legendary original draft of Day of the Dead ("Ben Hur with zombies" often described by F/X artist Tom Savini) is nothing special these days. Ah, to be the same zombie-loving kid today instead of the mid/late 90s.

In the face of the continued TV success of Walking Dead and box-office receipts of the zombie movie-in-denial World War Z, Romero's Day of the Dead is getting the (re)remake treatment this time courtesy of producers Lait Grobman and Christa Campbell; responsible for Texas Chainsaw 3D. So whatever standards you had after the 2008 Day redo, keep them low.

That way your disappointment won't hurt as much or, God forbid, it surprises like Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake.

GODZILLA Viral-Marketing Campaign Completely Misses The Point

Legendary/WB (the couple who recently just split) have already started off the GODZILLA viral-marketing in the cheapest and least appealing way possible. From big, flashy, and obviously fake screen-caps of "news sites" collected onto a Tumblr (of all things) with letter in each highlighted in red that couldn't scream OH PAY ATTENTION TO THIS harder if it tried, not to mention the FOLLOW LEGENDARY PICTURES AND WB FOR MORE INFO! button at the top.

You know what makes "viral marketing" interesting and cool? The role playing aspect involved of being immersed into a world that you pretend is also yours.

2008's CLOVERFIELD had perfect viral marketing, interesting and mysterious. The Dark Knight, Prometheus, Halo 2, Bioshock 2, Pacific Rim (at first), several more examples slip my mind; but you get the idea.

    Well. How disappointing.

Looks pretty cool. I've never seen the original either, so, there's that.

Legendary Breaks Up With WB, Hooks Up With Universal; WB Quoted: "She's Not Even That Hot"

Startling news on the relationship scene today as Legendary, who has been Captain of the Football Team for a few years now with some great moments he and WB shared like The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, and their most recent date, Pacific Rim, has apparently split for good with long-time sweet-heart WB.

It appears Legendary saw the hotter girl on campus, Universal, who has been slowly getting hot ever since she put on the freshman-15 and then lost it going into her Senior Year with recent big-budget hits and misses like Snow White and the Huntsman, Fast & Furious 6, SAVAGES, and the upcoming Jurassic Park IV.

    Here's the official statement:

Universal Pictures and Legendary Entertainment will enter into a multi-year film partnership in which the two companies will produce and co-finance Legendary and Universal films with Universal distributing Legendary films worldwide. Making Universal its new home enables Legendary to not only leverage the power and success of Universal’s film business and theme parks, but also the cross promotional support from NBCUniversal and Comcast assets through the company’s “Symphony” program. The announcement was made today by Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson and Co-Chairman Donna Langley and Legendary Entertainment Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull.

"Comcast and NBCUniversal’s global assets in film, television and theme parks offer Legendary unmatched breadth and opportunity to grow our business. We are delighted to be in business with this exceptional team and look forward to a successful partnership," said Tull.

Universal and Legendary’s film partnership is a complementary arrangement for both companies. Legendary, which is known for producing and financing successful large scale films, will continue to create and finance tent pole films based on intellectual property that is uniquely appealing to the coveted fanboy audience. And Universal, which has a proven track record of turning films of all shapes and sizes into hits with special skills in growing and nourishing original franchises, will market, co-finance and distribute Legendary films for five years beginning in 2014.

"Legendary has demonstrated a keen ability to identify and acquire powerful fresh intellectual property based ideas, match them with strong filmmakers and turn them into blockbuster hits,” said Fogelson and Langley. "The Universal team is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Legendary in turning those ideas into the best and most successful versions of themselves around the world."

Under the terms of the deal Universal and Legendary will jointly identify opportunities to expand Legendary’s franchises and intellectual property into Universal’s theme parks, and Universal will have an opportunity to collaborate with Legendary on projects in China following Legendary’s historic deal with China Film Group.

"Legendary continues to prove that big ideas are relevant and profitable with our global movie-going audience. We couldn't be more thrilled to embrace the challenges and changing marketplace with Thomas and his team and we are also excited about what opportunities this will bring to our Theme Parks around the world," said Ron Meyer, President and COO, Universal Studios.

"We are very excited to be in business with Thomas and Legendary,” said Steve Burke, CEO of NBCUniversal. “The partnership is a perfect fit for both companies and I am confident that together we will be in an even better position to deliver compelling, profitable entertainment content to a global audience for years to come."

Dorian Gray and Rooster Cogburn Hunt Julianne Moore In First SEVENTH SON Trailer

It's been a while since we've had some good fantasy movies, hasn't it?
Seventh Son, based on the young-adult series "The Wardstone Chronicles" by Joseph Delaney, is directed by Russian film-maker Sergei Bodrov and written by 1408 and GODZILLA (2014) scribes Max Borenstein and Matt Greenberg.

Seventh Son hits theaters January 17, 2014 and stars Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Dorian Gray), Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, Hannibal), Jeff Bridges (TRON: Legacy, Crazy Heart) and Kit Harrington (Silent Hill: Revelation 3D,  "Game of Thrones")

In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarnation, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory. In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. He has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a dark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.

Spider-Man & Electro Check Each Other's Breath on EW Cover

Per Entertainment Weekly is the officially official first-look at Andrew Garfield in his new Spidey outfit and Jamie Foxx as Electro.

According to their brief description, Garfield's douchebag web-slinger is still searching for the truth of his parents. At least they're not letting that go unresolved like, say, finding Uncle Ben's "murderer." Damn you, Take a Penny, Leave a Penny tray!

Tom Hanks As Walt Disney In First Official Photo From "Saving Mr. Banks"

I feel like Tom Hanks has fallen off the face of the earth lately. I might be wrong, but this guy is a long way removed from Forest Gump. It's nice to see him starring in a possible Oscar Bait movie with the always solid Emma Thompson.

I personally would have never cast the prolific actor as Walt Disney but based on the below photo from Saving Mr. Banks he certainly looks the part and we know the guy can act.

When Walt Disney's daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers' "Mary Poppins," he made them a promise - one that he didn't realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney's plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn't budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

'Elysium' To Be Given IMAX Release

Kind of strange to announce such a thing with just under a month before the film's release, but hey, better late than never.

Sony Pictures announced yesterday tha Neill Blomkamp's Elysium, starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, will be given an IMAX release when it opens next month on August 9th.

The film will be given a full, digital re-master to meet the IMAX standards, however; the film will ONLY be available in IMAX, with no dreaded 3D add-on the kill the experience and moviegoer's wallets (honestly, does anyone actually like going to see a film in 3D now?  I'm almost annoyed I can't go see Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim in just IMAX like the director intended because the studio forced 3D down his throat).

Anyway, for anyone not familar with the plot of Elysium, the story takes place in 2159, and two classes of people are divided: the wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, while the rest of the humans inhabit an overpopulated and ruined Earth.  Matt Damon plays a desperate man who must reach Elysium in order to find a cure that will save his life, while Jodie Foster plays the woman in-charge of securing Elysium from intruders.

    Here's the official press release:

LOS ANGELES, July 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – IMAX Corporation, along with TriStar Pictures and Media Rights Capital today announced that Elysium, filmmaker Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9) futuristic action film starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® format and released in IMAX® theatres worldwide beginning August 9.

“Neill Blomkamp is the kind of innovative, creative storyteller that moviegoers seek out, and we are thrilled to bring this highly anticipated film to IMAX audiences worldwide,” said Greg Foster, CEO of IMAX Entertainment and Senior Executive Vice President IMAX Corp.

“Elysium is one of the most highly anticipated films of the summer, so we’re pleased that audiences will have the chance to see Neill Blomkamp’s vision for the future in IMAX’s immersive format,” said Rory Bruer, president, Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures.

The IMAX release of Elysium will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology.  The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
