First Trailer for Disney's MALEFICENT; Alice in Ozland 2: Snow White Witch

So, I don't know about you; but it feels like Disney's Maleficent has been 'in-production' for literally 5 years. I swear to God I saw that picture of Angelina Jolie as Maleficent in my Freshman year of high-school.

Anyway, the trailer for that is here, and shows whatever the film is about (if you can stay awake to watch through it), which is the tale of Sleeping Beauty told through the eyes of Maleficent rather than the traditional protagonist.

This comes just hot off the "Rush to make big budget adaptions of classic fairy tale movies" that launched with Snow White and the Huntsman followed by Mirror Mirror and soon to be continued with Disney's own Cindarella.

From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.

The film stars Angelina Jolie, Sharlto Copley, Peter Capaldi, Elle Fanning, and Juno Temple.

Maleficent hits theaters May 30, 2014.
