Studios Wouldn't Distribute "Red Tails" Because Of All Black Cast
Thu, January 12, 2012 Based on the marketing I've seen so far from "Red Tails", I'm really interested in checking the film out. Anything with history as a backdrop quenches my film thirst. According to George Lucas in an interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, Hollywood studios don't share my enthusiasm for the history.
That sounds like something Hollyweird would do. Fuck taking chances on a project featuring actual history that in itself could have some historical context. Just pass on that and remake "Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot" featuring Betty White and Dwayne Johnson.
George Lucas:"This has been held up for release since 1942 since it was shot, I've been trying to get released ever since, It's because it's an all-black movie. There's no major white roles in it at all...I showed it to all of them and they said no. We don't know how to market a movie like this."
