There a lot of HUGE tentpole flicks coming out in 2012, everything from The Amazing Spider-Man to The Avengers, but I don't know how you can argue that The Dark Knight Rises is the most anticipated film of 2012. Already the internet is arguing over which was the better trailer, The Dark Knight Rises or The Hobbit. To me The Hobbit trailer looked hastily put together and more like it was catering to fanboys while the The Dark Knight Rises was aimed at the general public. According to Hero Complex, I am right.
The latest proof: The new trailer for “The Dark Knight Rises” smashed the record for most combined downloads through the iTunes movie trailers site and the iTunes Trailers iOS app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The trailer went online at 10 a.m. Monday morning and was viewed more than 12.5 million times in the next 24 hours, breaking the previous record — held by the trailer for Josh Wendon's The Avengers — by well over 2 million.
Looks like a good chunk of the general public has spoken and Batman is on the tip of their tongues. Goes to show you that the general public is not sleeping on Hobbit bed sheets but Batman is EVERYWHERE.
