You Knew This Was Coming: Rampage Video Game To Become Film

I've thought about this on several occasions while contemplating what unoriginal concept Hollywood was going to rush into production next. Rampage and Ninja Gaiden were two of my top contenders for the jump to film. Kid Icarus was another hopeful on my list as well, but who could take another "Sword & Sandals" epic.

I guess I was sort of on the right track with my random musings because according to The Hollywood Reporter New Line Cinema is pushing the "it came from the 80's" video game Rampage into city mashing motion. Producer John Rickard, most recently of Horrible Bosses, is hoping to harness the visuals of the game. The synopsis of the game is below.

George, Lizzy and Ralph were just ordinary Americans, until an experiment went wrong, turning them into a Gorilla, Lizard and Werewolf respectively. Following this, the three of them plan to go round destroying buildings, and up to three human players can join in.

Smashing at the edges of the buildings for long enough will make them collapse. The police and military are after you, and will shoot at you, so try to destroy them (failing that, you can avoid the bullets). You will need to eat regularly, with things like plants on offer, to avoid shrinking back to being human.

Cloverfield was very well received and King Kong made some bank. Legendary Pictures is trying to get Godzilla off the ground but Goyer recently "departed" the project. It's possible this could make some money and the public might go for three giant monsters wreaking havoc on cities cross the globe. See Planet of the Apes.
