Guggenheim Talks Green Lantern

As I sit here sipping on a cup of warm organic tea, a warm fuzzy feeling jolts across my body. Is it the nice warmth of the tea during this cold period of weather? Is it the thought of Christmas creeping up right around the corner? Maybe a bit of both, but I'd place my bets on the feeling being a rush of excitement for the Green Lantern movie next year as I read Marc Guggenheim's comments about the flick.

Guggenheim is co-writer of the Green Lantern script and recently spoke with MTV Splash Page about what we can expect from the film, including Easter Eggs for the die-hard fans, various characters with minor appearances, and the Clark Kent cameo that eventually got scrapped.

He has nothing but high praise for the film and says that Peter Sarsgaard's performance as the villainous Hector Hammond will draw comparisons to Heath Ledger's outstanding portrayal as The Joker in 'The Dark Knight.'

Even as a huge Green Lantern fan, that last comment comparing Sarsgaard to Ledger is a very bold statement. I am not saying he is wrong in making such assumptions but Heath Ledger set a high bar for any actors role in a film based off of a comic book. With reveals of characters like Chaselon and Bzzd on top of a shinning performance by Peter Sarsgaard, it sounds like Green Lantern is shaping up to be a treat for fans and general audiences alike.
