Teen Wolf Series Headed To Mtv

Mtv, the network that actually used to air music videos, has commissioned a pilot episode for a series based on the Michael J. Fox 80's film Teen Wolf.
However it sounds as though the series will have more in common with Buffy, The Vampire Slayer than it's source material. The MTV version will be set in high school, draw from the horror genre to explore werewolf mythology and include a romantic plot line, according to The Trades.
"It has a fresh take and is very different from the original," said Liz Gateley, senior vp MTV series development. "It has more of an 'American Werewolf in London' feel to it. It's a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques."
Okay, comparing this proposed series to 'An American Werewolf In London' is a bold (and most likely inaccurate) statement, but the premise does sound better than the remake rumors that I heard about a few years back. Those rumors included a female Teen Wolf with Smallville's Tom Welling as the love interest.
The new 'Teen Wolf' pilot was written by 'Criminal Minds' creator Jeff Davis, who will executive produces with Marty Adelstein (Fox's 'Prison Break') and Rene Echevarria (ABC's 'Castle').
