Comic-Con: Batman 3 Is A Go

At least, that's what Commissioner Gordon (better known as the actor who plays him Gary Oldman) had to say regarding the status of Batman 3 at the Warner Brothers panel pimping Book of Eli:
"I think the next Batman is next year. We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me."
I know the immediate reaction from most will be to shit their pants in joy. And to be fair, said reaction is sympathetic considering just how great the first two films (Batman Begins and The Dark Knight) were.
However if Oldman speaks the truth (and I have zero reason to doubt him right now), this could mean that Christopher Nolan is indeed leaving the franchise considering he's already up to his eyeballs filming Inception at the moment for release next summer and according to many accounts has had little-to-no time to think about a third Batman installment.
That is unless by "next year," Oldman is referring to the closing months of 2010 - which would be after Nolan's sci-fi action epic hits cinemas. And I do remember rumblings that Nolan had been secretly working on the script with his brother Jonah and David Goyer at the beginning of this year (as per our pals at IESB!)

Shotting at the back end of the year for a summer 2012 release sounds a genuine possibility.
Man, I"m hoping something more concrete comes out of this. Now where would Flash go? 2013?
I just hope it doesn't turn out to be complete shit. I'm happy that Nolan and Bale are returning, but the original cast of the Spiderman films came back and look at that piece of shit "Spiderman 3" was.....anyway definitely looking forward to this.
I Believe In Christopher Nolan.
Even if Nolan were no longer in the director's chair, I'm pretty sure he would have some involvement. It makes sense that right after Inception wraps up, more focus would be on the next Batfilm. But also if what Oldman says is correct (and not just a hopeful projection) then either a)the first draft of is being worked on and/or concieved mostly by Chris Nolan's brother. ;b)they will be shooting 90% of the white pages (in other words, something very Eastwood) or c) they already had a "general" idea of where they wanted to go, but nothing was set in stone at the time.In all cases, they are keeping zipped as to specifics.

I think they have squat and will cross that bridge when they get to it.
