Bruno Gets NC-17 Rating
And to think I was wondering just when the Hell we'd hear about Sasha Boran Cohen's Bruno.
A few months back, Universal quietly moved Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat follow-up from it's May 2009 release to July 10. Well it's almost April so it's about time for the campaign to kick off - still surprised they didn't do a Super Bowl TV spot to be honest.
The Wrap reports that the docu-comedy has been given the kiss of death by the MPAA - aka an NC-17 rating upon it's first submission.
Not surprisingly, the big to-do with the ratings-board was sex. Or more specifically the title character, an openly-gay Austrian fashion expert/TV interviewer, having his way with another man before our very eyes.
Gasp! I am shocked the MPAA is prudish towards sex - never seen that before! *Rolls eyes*
Of course, Cohen & Co. will have to make the required cuts and resubmit the film. That or they can appeal like Kevin Smith did last year with Zack & Miri Make a Porno...and won!
Nonetheless, this gives the film more publicity leading up to it's July 10 release and we can all already smell the "Outrageous Unrated DVD!"
