Wonder Woman Found

From DC's official blog, The Source:

Adrianne Palicki (“Friday Night Lights,” “Red Dawn”) will star in the title role of “Wonder Woman,” a new series pilot from David E. Kelley (“Boston Legal,” “Ally McBeal,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”).

The series pilot is a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics title in which Wonder Woman – a/k/a Diana Prince – is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. Kelley and Bill D’Elia (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice”) are the executive producers. The pilot was written by Kelley and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (NBC’s “The Event”). “Wonder Woman” is from David E Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

Palicki, who appeared as Tyra Collete in NBC’s acclaimed “Friday Night Lights,” will star in the upcoming feature-film remake of “Red Dawn.” She also starred in the horror film “Breaking the Girl” and in the recent series “Lone Star.”

X-Men: First Class Trailer

The first trailer for X-Men: First Class made its way up on the movie's official Facebook page today. I have to say that I was surprised by the footage. I wasn't expecting much out of it but it doesn't look as terrible as I began to assume. Check it out below and see what you think.

Thor Superbowl Spot

The God of Thunder made his presence known during the Superbowl. How awesome was the ground shattering underneath him. This is my second most anticipated film of 2011.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Wonder Woman Coming To NBC

Despite recently being announced as a dead project, Deadline is now reporting that NBC has picked up David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman script. Its described as Wonder Woman being a crime fighter in L.A. while trying to maintain her alter egos (Diana Prince) spot as a corporate executive. Here's what Kelley had to say about it;

"It's a huge project, and it was probably a bit too much to ask anyone to try to chew on it for next season. But I'm confident it will still happen. It's a very complicated piece, which is the most fun thing about it."

I'm still unsure how Wonder Woman will be received amongst the general TV crowd. It seemed like the stations not picking it up was the best thing for it. My biggest question would be how they plan on introducing her in the beginning. As for her costume, I'm betting they will go the route of the recent redesign with the black leather pants and jacket.

With shows like the Cape, it's hard to convince people that superhero related projects can be taken seriously on television. One exception is Smallville and I'm still not sure how it's carried on all these years. I'll hold off judgement until I see some footage and get more of an idea of where this one's headed. It could end up being a perfect fit for the Amazonian Warrior.

"Green Lantern" Re-Shoots

Daily Blam! is reporting that Green Lantern is currently undergoing re-shoots out in Los Angeles. It could be said that the polarizing trailer has WB in a panic to improve on certain scenes. The article debunks that claim saying its only to give the filmmaker's several options for the final product.

I would assume the re-shoots have nothing to do with the mixed reactions from internet groups. Most of what people are complaining about is the CGI suit. Sony Imageworks is certainly deep into finalizing the visual effects for the film.

The suit really didn't look that bad to me in my initial viewing of the trailer. I believe that some of that footage was in early stages which probably wasn't a good idea to release to the public eye yet. In haste, WB tried to get the footage out in front of Harry Potter and it caused a backlash. I have faith that the finished effects will look stunning and unlike anything else we've witnessed for a comic based film yet.

Spidey's First Kiss

I saw Spidey kissing Gwen Stacy, a couple weeks following Christmas eve...

So my parody of 'Mommy Kissing Santa' is horrendous but that shouldn't scare you away from the sweet kiss waiting to happen in the picture above. Looks like Peter is trying to get fresh with Gwen during school hours. I wonder if that blue book bag is carrying the web slinger's outfit?

Head over to Superherohype for a few more photos from the set.

Being Emma Frost

X-Men: First Class is well underway. Little information has leaked out at this point about the film besides cast members and images of the 'Blackbird' jet crash site.

Thanks to the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex we get some insight from January Jones on what it's been like to portray the diamond studded mutant, Emma Watson.

“Emma was a bespectacled, mousy child who had this power when she was young that she couldn’t quite harness, the telepathy, the mind-twisting stuff,” Jones said. “She had a falling out with her father and went her own direction.”

It wasn’t just learning Emma’s back-story that was important to Jones, but being able to reach hard-core fans. “Fans of the X-Men comics have a very set idea of these characters in their heads,” Jones said. “I wanted to know as much as I could about her so I wasn’t disappointing anyone. I’m sure I will still disappoint someone.”

If her attire under that large white coat resembles anything of what her comic counterpart wears, I don't think fans will be disappointed in the least.

January also discusses how her character on AMC's Mad Men differs from the White Queen, despite the time periods being very similar.

Official Tomar-Re Image From Green Lantern

In today's issue of Green Lantern #61, DC is continuing its preview of the upcoming film. This week we get a great shot of Tomar-Re with Geoff Johns explaining a bit of the process in creating all of the alien Lanterns. Thanks to Daily Blam for the scan and article.

IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS... is a mantra Tomar-Re lives by which has aided him in becoming an honored and highly respected Green Lantern. It's also a mantra that the filmmakers, like production designer, costume designer Ngila Dickson and visual effects supervisor Jimmy Berney have taken as their own. Producer Donald De Line and director Martin Campbell have assembled an amazing corps.

Growing up on the planet Xudar, Tomar-Re comes from a peaceful avian race that focuses their efforts on the arts and sciences instead of war. His nature to examine everything has led the Guardians of the Universe to appoint him the archivist and protector of the sacred Book of Oa. When not studying the nature of the Corps, Tomar-Re patrols the sector of 2813 where he developed a close friendship with neighboring sector 2814's Green Lantern, Abin Sur. Tomar has taken an interest in Abin's replacement, Hal Jordan. Though Hal is not one for details, Tomar hopes to teach Hal what it means to be a Green Lantern.

Now the same thoughtfulness that Tomar-Re believes in is being utilized to bring him and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps to life on the big screen.

We've watched test after test supervised by digital effects supervisor Jim Berney based on the amazing design work by Grant and Ngila. Their passion for details is much like Tomar-Re's. Something I found extremely interesting was the mix of motion capture and straight up animation they used in creating the Green Lantern Corps. Some of the more humanoid Corps members like Tomar-Re and Kilowog started with motion capture, but most of their flying and movement beyond simple interaction was animated, some based on the movement of insects and animals and others created completely from scratch - giving them a unique, and alien, feel. It's this attention to detail - from the scales on Tomar-Re's skin to the way he turns when flies into the air - that will give the Green Lantern Corps more life than its ever seen.

With talented people like Grant, Ngila and Jim and his team pouring their heart and soul into this, it makes you realize even more than you might already how truly amazing the Green Lantern universe is.

As the New Year approaches, let's follow the advice that Tomar-Re would give to Hal: Follow your heart, believe in your will, and never, ever disrespect Sinestro!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! - Geoff Johns

Green Lantern, directed by Martin Campbell, stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett. The film is scheduled to hit 2D and 3D theaters June 17th, 2011.

New Captain America Set Photos

Get ready for green frisbee throwing in next years Captain America film.

The Chris Evans Blog has posted an article on the Captain America set visit from Dutch magazine Veronica. Superherohype has translated bits of the article and the green frisbee mentioned will later become a cgi shield. There were a total of 25 shields made for the film including smaller models specifically for scenes involving running and fighting.

Not a whole lot of new photos in this. A new one of Chris as Steve Rogers and a couple of Hayley Atwell who will portray Peggy Carter.
