First Look at Angelina Jolie's 'Unbroken' Debuts During Olympics

The first footage of Angelina Jolie's 2nd directorial effort, Unbroken, debuted last night in a special TV spot during the Olympics.

For those unfamiliar, the film tells the incredible true story of Louis Zamperini, a former Olympian and WWII bombardier whose plane crashed at sea in 1943.  Zamperini - along with two other crew members - drifted at sea for 47 days, only to be captured by the Japanese and sent to a POW camp.

The real Louis Zamperini is featured in the footage shown as he recounts his story along with pictures of Jolie working on the film.

Newcomer Jack O'Connell plays the title role of Zamperini, and with the impressive footage shown (courtesy of legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins), this looks to be a breakout role for the young actor.  Nice to see an unknown getting such a high-profile project.

Unbroken opens in theaters Christmas Day.

WB Is In The "Disney" Business: Ron Howard Might Direct THE JUNGLE BOOK

In an Exclusive from The Hollwood Reporter it appears Ron Howard, who recently released 2013's excellent racing film about the rivalry between James Hunt and Nikki Lauda, RUSH, is in talks to direct The Jungle Book just a month after it's previous director bowed out due to scheduling conflicts.

Set in the jungles of India, the story centers on Mowgli, an orphaned boy raised by wolves who befriends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the black panther as he spars with the ferocious tiger Shere Khan.

With Howard in place, Warner Bros. is able to keep pace with Disney, which has its own live-action adaptation in the works with Jon Favreau at the helm. Disney also made the 1967 animated classic The Jungle Book. But because the Kipling story is in the public domain, both studios are free to pursue.

With PAN, WB's darker and more "realistic" pirate-themed approach to the Peter Pan story prepping for release in 2015 with Garrett Hedlund and Hugh Jackman at WB as well as TARZAN prepping for a 2016 release with Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie it appears Warner Brothers is really going all out as live-action "children's classics" seem to be the next potential money-mine.

Howard is currently finishing In the Heart of the Sea as well as attached to the next DaVinci Code adventure, INFERNO as well as MENA so it's unclear when Howard will shove this into his schedule.

Set Construction Begins in Hawaii for JURASSIC WORLD

It's been all quiet on the dino-front for a while regarding Universal's Jurassic World, but thanks to Jurassic World Movie (via On Location Vacations) we're getting our first look at the moody landscape where sets are currently being built for Isla Nublar in the same location Spielberg and co used in 1993.

"Set construction is underway at Kualoa Ranch, where the original film was also shot back in 1993, and can be seen from the Pali Lookout, near Chinaman’s Hat and the fishpond. Our tipster also spotted directional signs posted at the construction entrance that say EBB."

It is noted that EBB matches the film's "code-name", Ebb Tide, which is described by Ask as:

The term ebb tide is used to describe a phenomenon that is characterised by the receding of a tide. This term is also used to describe the time between a high and low tide as water moves away from the shore.

This almost confirms the rumors that circulated over the summer that Jurassic World would be a Sea World based theme park with terrifying creatures of the deep.

The site also says that the film will shoot in Hawaii starting in April for about 6 weeks before filming in New Orleans.

Jurassic World stars Bryce Dallas-Howard, Chris Pratt, Ty Simpkins, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, and Nick Robinson and is directed by Colin Trevorrow.

Spare no expense next summer as Jurassic World roars into theaters June 12, 2015.

'Brick Mansions' Trailer and Poster Starring the Late Paul Walker

While Fast & Furious 7 will certainly be Paul Walker's final film, Brick Mansions is actually his last completed film, the American remake of the popular French parkour-action film, District B13.

In the flick, Walker stars an undercover cop looking to take down a notorious drug dealer (played by RZA) who threatens to destroy the entire city of Detroit, but must team with an ex-convict (David Belle who starred in the original and co-founded parkour) to stop the sinister plot.

It's funny how simliar Walker's character looks like Brian O'Conner from the Fast & Furious films, but hey, people will still pay to go see it.  Looks pretty well done.

    Brick Mansions opens April 25th.

Seth Rogen & Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Reteam with '50/50' Director for Xmas Comedy

50/50 director Jonathan Levine - who also helmed last year's modest hit Warm Bodies - is set to reunite with both Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt for an untitled Xmas comedy, set to start shooting this summer.

Sony Pictures reportedly beat out several studios to land the project which revolves around three childhood best friends who reunite in New York City for their annual tradition of going out on Christmas Eve.  Both Rogen and Gordon-Levitt will play two of the best friends with a third yet to be cast (James Franco maybe?).

Levine wrote the screenplay which will also reunite 50/50 producers and co-financers Madate Pictures (now called Good universe) with the filmmaker.  Rogen's company, Point Grey Pictures, will produce as well.

I personally found 50/50 to be an absolutely great film (it got a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture - Musical or Comedy and should have gotten more Oscar buzz) so any project involving that collection of talent I'm more than excited to see.

Zack Snyder Laughs At You As He Yet Again Says Nothing About "Batman Vs Superman"

Like any good Summer blockbuster involving super powered beings, the creative team continues to be coy when asked about the project. The responses from Zack Snyder and his cronies over the past eleventeen months in relation to Batman vs Superman: The Dark Knight Surprise have been like listening to a broken record in different languages.

Here's what the director had to say from POPOCORN  VIA COMIC BOOK THERAPY

"The comic book will influence the history of Batman vs. Superman, on which the writer David S. Goyer and myself will work."

"Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry in the role of Superman. He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world."

Thanks Zack. Just like the last three interviews you enthralled us with. I get what you're doing, you to have to protect the product, but I rather hear about how many sets you and Henry Cavill did or your tall tales from the casting couch. Granted forums will be buzzing about this until President's Day but you're not fooling me despite your ability for amazing visuals.

Heck Jamie Williams said the same thing TWO YEARS AGO Zack.

"In a classic case of covering your ass, what we're hearing is two separate incarnations are being tooled. One version where the World's Greatest Detective is firmly established and helps mentor an up-and-coming, fresh-faced Supes and vice versa."

    Try to keep up.

Poster For "Transcendence" - Possibly With The Back Of Johnny Depp's Head

Dr. Will Caster (Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him.

However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should.

Their worst fears are realized as Will's thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

Kyle Reese Role Down to Jai Courtney & Boyd Holbrook for 'Terminator: Genesis'

After hearing about who would be testing for the role exactly a month ago, word has finally come out in regards to who the finalists are for Kyle Reese in the Terminator reboot, Terminator: Genesis:

    Jai Courtney & Boyd Holbrook.

You might find Courtney's face a lot more recognizable as he's been in quite a few high-profile projects the past couple years including A Good Day to Die Hard, Jack Reacher, and this year's I, Frankenstein.

Holbrook, on the other hand, is more of an unknown, having appeared in more dramatic fare including Milk, Out of the Furnace, and this year's upcoming Gone Girl.

I'm not going to lie here, I'm pulling for Holbrook all the way.  He has that underdog, heroic look about him where you sense he grew up living a hard life, fighting off jerks trying to kick the crap out of him.

Courtney, ironically enough, looks like he could be one of those jerks; the pampas jock who seemed to have everything handed to him.

I wonder if this is another case of the director (Alan Taylor) pulling for his guy (Holbrook) while the studio wants more of their choice (Courtney).  It happened with the Sarah Connor role as Taylor wanted Emilia Clarke and the studio wanted Brie Larson.  Look who won out.  Courtney also has an existing relationship with the production company, Skydance Productions, as they produced Jack Reacher.

The winner of the Kyle Reese role would join Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to his signature role, the aforementioned Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, and Jason Clarke as John Connor.

Terminator: Genesis is set to starting filming the beginning of April and is to be released July 1st, 2015.

Red-Band Trailer for David Ayer's 'Sabotage' Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger

A great looking 3-minute trailer has been released online for David Ayer's Sabotage starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ayer (who wrote Training Day and directed last year's underrated End of Watch) has seemingly put together an extremely realistic, violent adaptation of Agatha Christie's classic mystery novel, And Then There Were None.

The film follows a DEA task force (led by Schwarzenegger) who heist a drug cartel's safe house, only to start getting picked off one-by-one by an unknown assasin.

Schwarzenegger looks like he's given one of his most hard-nosed performances of his career that'll hopefully get him back into the good graces of movie audiences after last year's underperformance of both The Last Stand and Escape Plan.

Sabotage - also starring Sam Worthington, Olivia Williams, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello, Josh Holloway, and Mireille Enos - opens March 28th.
