TMT Exclusive: 'Dead of Night' Is Not Headed Straight to DVD

You know how Internet rumors start these days. One site publishes something, a fan site picks it up. A few more sites attribute it to one of the places from which they heard it, and so forth.

The current rumor has it that Brandon Routh's upcoming movie, "Dead of Night," is headed straight to DVD.

Not so, says Plantinum Studios Vice President Dan Forcey.

"We're contractually obligated and guaranteed a theatrical release of at least 1,100 screens," Forcey just told me. "We couldn't do direct-to-DVD if we wanted to."

For a refresher on the movie, here is my previous interview with Forcey.

So good to know. Dylan Dog is an awesome and very cinematic comicbook universe. Lots of potential here for something truly unique and cool. "Dead of Night" also looks very promising, plus my favorite actor is playing the title role. I'm sold.
And I CAN'T wait to see this on the big screen. I'll be bringing several of my family members with me to watch it! :)

Thank God! I just heard this and couldn't believe it. Thanks for hunting down the truth for us, Sean. You da man.

Ha Ha...so glad I saw this before I saw the rumors. What is it with some people? I can just guess what kind of person started this rumor.

I can't wait to see this movie on the big screen. I hope it kicks the BO bigtime. It has everything needed to do that as far as I can tell, a fun story, great actors and a commited production team in place.

Thanks Sean for digging up the dirt and clearing it up. You are a great source of info, unlike so many others.

No Way In hell Dead Of Night Was Headed To Home Movie.
This Movie Will be Bigger Than Expected!
The Job In Acting That Brandon Routh Did Throughout The Movie Drew Applause More Than Once Immediately Following CUT!
I have Worked On Several Sets But Never One Quite Like This!
I can Not Wait For The Movie To Come Out!
And Yes I Will Be Going to the Advanced Screening!

As far as I am concerned I hope it blows the roof off the BO so we get more of the same. I am tired of the screens being filled with mindless headache producing blow-up and distroy as much as can be fit into the time allowed movies.

I want a real movie and from everything I have read this promises to be just what I want.

Again, I can't thank you enough for blowing the lid off these stupid rumors that people start.

Sean; thanks again for dispelling a bunch of rubbish. Greatly appreciated and for all the work you do!

Routh could do with a bit of luck and this is a pretty interesting project. Hopefully there will be a trailer soon to spark up wider interest.

I'm glad the DVD rumor was false, as I really prefer to watch films of this nature on the big screen. Thanks for getting to the truth on Dead Of Night's status - - straight from Platinum Studio's Dan Forcey no less. Great job Sean!

Thanks Sean for nipping this rumour in the bud, a petty article written by some guy who clearly is a digruntled fanboy! As a fan of this genre and Brandon, I can't wait to see Dylan Dog translated onto the big screen.
