Animated 'Scott Pilgrim' Movie Poster Revealed

A new 20-foot-tall poster for the movie "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" was unveiled at the recent License Show in Las Vegas.

The poster doesn't reveal much in the way of new information about the movie.

However, the poster does officially say the movie is due out in 2010. Most people had surmised as much, but no release date of any kind had been locked down. So I guess that's something

For more on the movie, see our previous stories here and here.

    Transformers: Marketing Meets The Eye

The marketing for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" has officially kicked into 2nd gear.

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" International Poster

Four "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" TV Spots

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Promo Shot

"Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen" Footage From 'BotCon'

The footage started with John Turturro and Sam's roomate in the middle of a construction zone looking on to a group of construction vehicles surround them. The constructicons were revealed when Mixmasters Decepticon symbol is shown and Scavenger begins to transform. At the same time the other constructicons move closer to form Devastator!!!

Scavenger literally forces all the other constructicons into the gestalt ala Scorpion in Mortal Kombat. Tuturro then runs with Sam's roomate when the scene cuts to Sam and Mikaela running from Rampage.

Rampage begins chasing Sam's father when Sam jumps in front of him to draw his attention. Sam then says "Wait, it's not them you want. It's this, the MATRIX! He then holds up an item and continues to coax Rampage when Bumblebee arrives. The battle begins.

Rampage and Bumblebee fight ferociously with Bumblebee getting the better of Rampage when Ravage enters the fray. Using his hip cannons he blasts Bee and jumps on his back. Bumblebee then forces Rampage to the ground when Rampage lunges for Sam and takes Ravage and terrors him apart piece by piece.

Bumblebee then rips Rampages arm off and decapitates him.

The Mixed Up Files Of Joseph McGinty Nichol

This is the story of Joseph McGinty Nichol, who was handed the keys to a shiny Skynet comissioned Bentley and crashed it somewhere in a desolate 2018. You have come to know him as McG. This is his story.

The early buzz on "Terminator: Salvation" was fairly positive. Already established universe, Christian Bale, guns, and scary robots. Sounds vaguely familiar and brings what a popcorn flick should. However, something happened on the way to T5, "Terminator: Salvation" flopped. Joseph McGinty Nichol found himself arguing with WB over the rating, lying about receiving James Cameron's blessing, and unable to handle a flip out attack by star Christian Bale.

However, this story isn't about what happened in the past, it is what about the future holds for Nichol. Assuming that Salvation was going to be a big hit, Disney scooped up Nichol to direct "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: Captain Nemo". At this point this film is still in "pre-pro" and in early May Nichol dimissed internet buzz that he had "Dwayne Johnson" lined up for the lead

"I don't know where that (rumour) came from. I've never spoken to Dwayne Johnson... I like him. He's great. He's a wonderful human being and an excellent screen presence, but we have not spoken about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Not a word."

Nichol could do worse than Dwayne Johnson, he seems like he would be a good fit in the role but he is shooting for a bigger name.

"My intention is to show him (Will Smith) Terminator and see if he responds to it. We're friendly. We'll see if it's in the cards."

I hope Nichol has a back up plan...

Snapshot Look At The Logos For Upcoming Marvel Movies

A sneaky photographer took the following shot at the License Show, which currently is taking place in Las Vegas:

I like them, especially the ones for "Thor" and "Captain America."

My only question, though, is why is "Captain America" not coming out until after the Fourth of July in 2011? Doesn't it seem obvious that it should come out before that date, so that people can get all patriotic in the theater?

    Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex

Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin, who is currently filming the Comic Book Western "Jonah Hex" along with John Malkovich, Megan Fox and a host of other talented actors and actresses, plays the lead of the facially-scarred Old West bounty hunter Jonah Hex. Now, the first pics of him have hit the net:

Now, the costumes and all-around feel of the movie seem to be accurate well-presented adaptations, but preferably I'd like more scarring to Jonah's face, unless they cgi his damaged eye? Though, I suppose it's hard to have a movie about a man who is hideously scarred on half of his face, when Hollywood likely wants to show as much of their handsome leading men as they can. It's a delicate balance for sure. For me, these are just okay, but perhaps others will enjoy them more.

So, guys, gals, what do you make of Jonah Hex?

We Seem to have our Odin

According to Rich Johnston's site www.BleedingCool.com friend and frequent collaborator of Kenneth Branagh's, Brian Blessed has landed a role in the upcoming Thor.  Blessed is perhaps best know for his role a sthe King of the Hawkmen in Flash Gordon.

His association with Branagh, powerful voice, and acting talent have made him a long time favorite for the role among Thor fans on message boards throughout the net.  He'll be joining Chris Hemsworth (Thor), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki).

The cast as of now, while talented and fitting to their roles, is lacking in star power.  I'd not be surprised to see the one time rumored Natalie Portman join the cast as one of the female leads, preferably Loki's love interest Karnilla, as I'm pretty sure we've never seen Nat as a villain before and it would bring something new.

So far so good as far as this Thor fan is concerned.  Things are in full swing here, and hopefully GREEN LANTERN will be soon as well.

    Sam Worthington: The WB Project

His face or name might have not been all that familiar until we saw him trudging through the "Mad Maxesque" terrain with Christian Bale in this Summer's "Terminator Salvation" but WB is grooming him into a tentpole sweetheart. Holding his own along side Bale was only the beginning because he went from half machine to a sandal wearing, sword swinging, Perseus in WB's "Clash of the Titans" rehash. The always on top of things keyboard crunchers at /Film received the first shot of Worthington as Perseus courtesy of a loyal reader.

After Worthington is done plucking the snakes from Medusa's head there are strong indications that he could be lined up to play Green Lantern in WB's very important venture outside the safe zone of Batman and Superman. It seems that the executives over in Burbank are setting Worthington up to anchor their tentpole films for years to come. It remains to be seen whether Worthington can put asses in the seats and carry a film, "Terminator: Salvation" can now be called a flop, but Worthington neither helped or hurt that film.

From a post-apocalyptic 2018, through the mythology of Ancient Greece, will Sam Worthington help WB conquer the box office with his power ring?

    Is Gore Verbinski Off BioShock?

A few months back, news hit that the film adaptation of the video-game BioShock (under the direction of Pirates of the Caribbean helmer Gore Verbinski) had been delayed due to budget concerns. Even with that, all of the key principles swore up and down the project was not dead and would see the light of day. Honestly from then on, I've been of the opinion that it was only a matter of time before it ultimately fell apart or Verbinski would simply walk away.

And now it appears that it might be a case of the latter. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times recently, Verbinski explained:

The bottom line is it has to shoot out of the States for budget reasons and my schedule may be prohibitive. There's a great script and a really interesting cast. It really comes down to the financial model now. Big movies are just not being shot in the States. I'm weighing whether I can physically go the U.K. or Australia or one of those other places with a tax rebate for a year-and-a-half.

At least, Verbinski is being more direct than Bryan Singer has been lately with the "Will he or won't he?" regarding directing the next Superman film. That itself of course is doubtful.

I'll tell you what I don't doubt while we're on the subject. A studio is going to nabb down Verbinski to direct one of their blockbuster tentpoles (whether it's a sequel to a pre-existing franchise or starting a brand-new one) ASAP.
