Matt Damon Hearts Ben Affleck But Thinks Batman Is A Simpleton & Won't Be Robin

The backlash to Ben Affleck being cast as Batman has been rather surprising to me. Affleck has proven himself to be more than polished actor. I thought the Boston area native was more than solid in both Argo and The Town. Twitter was riddled with hashtags ripping on the choice but fanboys will be fanboys. The same thing happened when other actors were cast in high profile rolls but the internet wasn't as socially active during those time periods.

One person entirely on Affleck's team is none other than friend Matt Damon. Speaking with the Times Of India (Whatever That Is), the actor defended his pals acting abilities and took a couple jabs at The Caped Crusader.

"I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the internet. I just think it's kind of funny. You know, he's not playing King Lear. It's Batman! Certainly within his skill set. If anybody saw 'Argo' or 'The Town,' and all the work he's been doing lately, it's way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that... But it's safe to say I won't be Robin."

I don't think I could have said it better myself. We're talking about Batman here. Credit to Christopher Nolan and of course Christian Bale for making Batman important I guess.
