Star Trek Sequel: Welcome to the Jungle

It's about time we got details on the sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, or "Star Trek: The Star Trek" as Red Letter Media put it, beyond the standard "Oh we're still working on the story" non-answer we've heard for years.
Unlike Christopher Nolan's camp, who intentionally send out fake spoilers to throw people off such as that bullshit about Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Dark Knight Rises role you may have read last week, such tactics aren't employed by Team J.J. Probably because they’re more afraid of him shoving any leakers into that damn "mystery box" of his and throwing away the keys.
Trek Movie has good tidbits on where things are at. January 15th is the start-date on as the as-yet-titled follow-up, sets from the 2009 reboot are being re-used (Cost effective!), ILM is already underway on effects shots and writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof are on draft #3. Hawaii is being looked at for a possible filming location subbing for a "jungle planet" and a local Los Angeles museum will, most definitely, be used for a "famous Star Trek location."
From what we've heard the Klingons play a prominent role in Star Trek 2. The angle, according to our sources, plays up them up as a Nomadic sect of warrior aliens causing trouble for the Federation - think an intergalactic Taliban with their home-planet overrun by Tribbles. Yes, those Tribbles, here in the newly rebooted continuity viewed as "furry carnivorous creatures."
Oh, and no Khan. Thank God.

furry carnivorous creature.. wth!? your furture tribbles?! Critters (80-90s) ...so, the one that scotty had caged in 1 ...was that a baby?
Maybe they got genetically altered. I could see the Klingons, afraid of the Federation, instead of genetically altering themselves to be "more like Humans" that resulted in their change, they would take something cute ilk the tribbles and turn them into a weapon.
Of course it goes wrong and makes the Klingons almost extinct. Kinda neat actually.
Don't see any need to over think the Tribbles now being carnivorous creatures. Before when they were just eating grains, the Klingon's considered them their greatest enemy.
You know I loved the alternate timeline . really . but it would seem to me that the old Spock would have sat the leaders of Federation down and said .. okay I gotta tell you some things that are going to happen. First, an ancient space probe that was launched many years ago is coming back to earth and it's bringing friends. Second, anyone who spots a ship called SS Botany Bay is to immediately contact StarFleet and is forbidden to board the ship. Third, make sure you save a couple of whales .. it's important. Fourth, see this sector of space, never ever go into it .. it's populated by a nasty species of cyborgs called The Borg. Not worth messing with. Last, If you run into an immortal named Q, do NOT surrender your ship. Instead stall as long as you can. It's all a big game to Him anyway and you can never win.
Even though the Star Trek franchise is rebooted- many of you forget all too quickly that this does not veto the short lived 'Enterprise' series (Scott Bakula as Captain Archer). There was an episode which addressed the Klingon-Tribble problem. The Tribbles were parasites to the Klingons, and fed off thier DNA. It didn't kill them, but many were infected. The Klingons didn't die, never lost complete strength but thier muscle mass wasn't as big as it used to be and the ridges/other Klingon features were gone. This was set up to have continuity with TOS.
So if the Klingons are involved (and BTW, I kind of buy Benicio Del Toro with a Klingon look) they will have the traditional TOS look as opposed to how they looked since 79's Motion Picture.
As for the "second bad guy" if there is one, I am clueless unless it has to do with the museum thing.
"Who Mourns for Adonais?" had the Enterprise crew being held hostage by an alien who thought he was the Greek God Apollo.
klingons??? taliban??? p'tagh!!!! *spitting*
