    What is Mortal Kombat: Rebirth?

It looks like we "might" be getting an R rated Mortal Kombat films after all. The die hard fans of the franchise have long been lobbying for an R rated adaption of the video game. But the probability seemed highly unlikely.

Until now that is. A new Mortal Kombat short filmed directed by Kevin Tancharoen has made its way onto youtube. LatinoReview has the rundown on who played who, and they're calling this a test video shot for Warner Brothers to get funding for a full blown hard 'R' MK movie.

I can't say that I was a huge fan of the original films, but I did enjoy them when they came out, and I did see them in the theatre. The problem with them is, when you watch them now not only do they not hold true to the test of time, but they're very cheesy and watered down in comparison to what they maybe could have been.

Some people think this is for a movie and others have said it's a promo for a new MK game. I'd rather see a movie since I don't play videogames anymore, and it at least looks like an interesting direction for a Mortal Kombat movie. Seems like they're trying to Dark Knight it.

Holy shit balls Batman I just crapped my pants! This sounds fucking great, and looks even better. I honestly never thought this would get off the ground. I'm glad things are finally moving forward.

WOW! That's impressive, this will hopefully make up for the cluster fuck that Mortal Kombat 2:Annihilation was.. I actually enjoy, still to this day, the first Mortal Kombat movie but that's probably just because I love seeing the characters in action and I'll never stop getting all nostalgic from the MK song the movie delivered
