Robert Englund talks "Nightmare Remake'

Shocktillyoudrop had a chance to sit down with the original Freddy Kreuger, Robert Englund. When asked if he had a chance to meet Jackie Earle Haley, who has taken over the role from him, he gave a really weird answer "We were supposed to have dinner together and I was going to give him a list of all my favorite film festivals for him to go to in Europe. ‘Robert's Top Five': my favorite little resorts from the southern coast of Spain and stuff. I'm hoping to get him that list anyway, because after wearing the makeup and after doing publicity for the movie it's kind of fun to go over there and have a little bit of distance from the United States, and the hospitality is very wonderful over there. They come at the project with a little bit of a different angle and it's a little bit refreshing. You don't feel like you're repeating yourself quite as much, so I want to give him my Robert Englund's Top Five list of film festivals to go to.
I have no idea why Haley would want a list of film festivals in Europe to visit from his 'Nightmare' predecessor.
When asked if He was excited to see the new 'Nightmare On Elm Street' he also had the following to say, "I'm really curious. I'm a big fan of talented actors and there's some real talented actors in this project. Clancy Brown, Connie Britton from Friday Night Lights. Especially a young actor that I love from The Sarah Conner Chronicleswhich was recently cancelled, Thomas Dekker – I think he's playing the Johnny Depp role, and Jackie. I've been a fan of Jackie's since the early '80s. He did a wonderful film called 'Breaking Away'. In fact, I think if you go back and really watch that movie Jackie's probably the actor who invented the sort of slacker character even before Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and even before Kevin Smith's Clerks. He kind of coined that character and I don't think that he ever got enough credit for that."
Maybe now the "original" Nightmare fanboys will quit their bitching, Englund basically gives his blessing to the cast, Haley included. That's not saying they needed it, or were looking for it, if anything I think the only real blessing they should have been looking for is from Wes Craven the original creator.

Englund is a weird guy, it never bothered me that they re-cast him,if anything it needed to happen. I just hope that haley doesn't suck as Freddy.
Yeah he is a weirdo, that doesn't surpise me though.
hahaha, he totally is werd, I like haley as the new freddy
I'm pretty sure Wes Craven wouldn't like the remake because he didn't like the Nightmare sequels.
Good point AZ. I don't think he actually would give blessing, but my point was, if they were looking for it, it should come from him.
You people are crazy Robert englund is Freddy kreuger. He may be a fictional character but englund brought him to life. In the first and second movies his horror approach was excellent and in the later films his sort of comedic horror approach was perfect for the character as well. I'm sure haley will do great but Robert englund is Freddy kreuger always will be. Another thing to add michael bay has made good movies but let's not forget he ruined Friday the thirteenth
Ever think he just talked in circles and about how much he likes the cast to not answer the question? Wes Craven doesn't like the fact they remade the movie and neither does Englund.
I saw the movie and I don't care if Robert gave his blessing or not the new Nightmare on elm street sucked.
I have been taking splenda for several months. Just lately I realized that the moles on arms and especially legs had increased.By a sudden impulse while visiting my doctor for something else I showed the increased moles to him on one leg. He pointed out that two of the moles did not look good, he sent one small part of one of them to the lab and it came back as pre- cancerous. Both moles have been removed since. No more splenda for me. eyplbr eyplbr - moncler jackets norway.
