Movie Moan - One More Week Until Avatar Day

That's right. We refuse to stop bitching about "Avatar Day," folks. Of course, the fact that none of us will be able to see it could be the reason.

That aside, the guys at Movie Moan (Phil, Ed & Jamie) are here with you once again to bullshit about the week of film-news along with their pal Lou joining them for another edition.

The death of John Hughes (and memories from his work over the years), Bryan Singer's decision to direct a Battlestar Galactica film, the Wolverine sequel actually getting a good writer in the form of Chris McQuarrie and Steven Spielberg possibly producing Halo are among the topics up for discussion.

Phil and Jamie give their thoughts on G.I. Joe, Ed reviews The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard and nobody give their full thoughts on District 9. Ed and Jamie loved it, but those damn British film-distributors have blocked Phil from seeing it for another two weeks. So we won't go into a full discussion on the Neill Blomkamp-directed/Peter Jackson-produced science-fiction epic until then.

To see the Avatar preview you mean? I just tried sir, I tried really hard. I found out completely by accident (one of my friends is a Stonecutter) that there are two screenings of the footage at my local IMAX on the Friday but they're already sold out. The tickets went extremely quickly apparently.

I was jazzed that I might be able to tell you folks about it on our next show but it was not to be and all I keep thinking is that seeing this flipping preview is as hard as getting tickets for a Beatles reunion concert. Why only show it for one day? What's wrong with a week? Is there any reason it should be this hard? How special can you feel about seeing a preview for a film that is only 4 months away?

I suppose I'd be saying something different if I managed to get tickets ;)

And thus it happened. I GOT A TICKET!

So to answer your original question, yes I will see the Avatar preview on Friday.

    thank god.

will you watch the trailer before friday? the trailer will be realesed on thursday.
i will not watch it. this will be the first time that i will be in a theater and see something for the first time. i want to know how i will. could be that i will hate it because i will not get used to the na'vi designe and so much CGI.

i will be an avatar-virgin he he :)

here for my theater they decided that they will give 40% of all tickets to radio stations. so on their shows they are giving away those tickets to all people. general public.
they should have done this with all tickets.

The trailer hits Thursday? Dang, it's going to be hard but I'm with you on this.

Despite my criticism of the marketing, it is still incredibly exciting to go into a theatre and view footage from an event film which I haven't seen a frame of yet. That just never happens these days.
