Movie Moan - Swordplay, Dancing, Good Times!

You know you're in for all of the above when Mr Gabe Toro is in the Movie Moan house.  The film critic for The Playlist and Jump Cut Junkies join us this week to provide that calm, measured randomness while Phil (who has a cold so excuse the nasalness you'll hear on the show) goes to town on 'Star Trek Into Darkness' in his first review.

And that's not even the ugliest fight on the show:-

4 mins - Gabe has just returned from 'Ex-Fest', the cult film festival showing titles that are still only available on VHS, if that.  What wonders did he see?

13:35 mins - Phil provides the first, spoiler free review of 'Star Trek Into Frustration'.

40:25 mins - Jamie and Gabe try to help Phil decide whether or not to see 'The Great Gatsby' (and are no help at all).

54:55 mins - A very argument (yes, you heard it right) about Marvel Studios' pay practices, hiring cheap TV directors, and their fast food approach to producing films.

86 mins - Jamie and Phil do a little geeking out now that 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' is official in production and hatch a plan to sneak on set and get lobotomized.

Supermoan: Movie Moan's Ultimate Superman Retrospective Episode 3 - 'Superman III' (1983)

You can watch this week's show on Blip:

    Or on Youtube:

"Let's not have unrealistic expectations put on this character."

When you sit down to look at it, 'Superman III' may be a disaster but it also offers a glorious bounty of fascinating topics to discuss and thus, the funniest possible 90 minute video analysis we could hope to make.  So join your host Phil Gee, with Jamie Williams, Justin Korthof, and Randall Maynard as we discuss:

Just exactly how many plots are contained in the film (it goes into double digits).

What is Superman's obligation to protecting us when he spends the first 30 minutes of this film having a picnic with Lana Lang?

What's with all the references to acid?

Explaining to the filmmakers how computers actually work (since they sure as hell don't know).

Life of Brad (the real heart of the piece).

The original treatment to 'Superman III' featuring Brainiac, Supergirl, and Mr Mxyzptlk brought to life by our narration and spectacularly twisted images by Phil's brother, Adam Gee.

And a drunken George Reeves sketch that Phil will be sent to hell for.

As the film's trailer puzzlingly said, "this time is going to be the best time of all".

Movie Moan - The Mandarin Debate

It's the debate that will rage on for decades: what did you think of the twist?

If you saw Iron Man 3 (judging by the $176 million worth of tickets sold), you know what we're talking about. To those spoiler sensitive chaps, our lips are sealed in this text.

Joining the British Gentleman Agent Phil and his loud-mouth sidekick Jamie this week are special guests Justin Korthoff and Randall Maynard.

It's a full-blown spoiler-filled discussion about the beginning chapter of Marvel's Phase 2. Everything is covered from that twist-that-shall-not-be-named, who Jamie was relieved to see alive at the end more than any other character, Phil actually disagreeing with Randall (What a bastard!) and this possibly being the end of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

Supermoan: Movie Moan's Ultimate Superman Retrospective Episode 2 - 'Superman II' (1980)

You can watch this week's show on Blip:

    Or on Youtube:

    "SCREW YOU BRAD!"

Why did Superman kill General Zod with a disturbing smile on his face?  Why did he kill Lex Luthor in the Donner Cut?  Why won't he stop killing people?

That's just one of the themes we cover on this epic 105 minute joy filled analysis of the prototype comic book sequel that influenced all that came after it.  You wouldn't be watching 'Iron Man 3' this weekend if it didn't exist.

Joining Phil and Jamie again for the second installment of our ultimate Superman retrospective are Justin Korthof and Randall Maynard.

Other topics covered include Zod worship, similarities with Total Recall, the random crazy powers, the final fates of Otis and Miss Tessmacher, Brando's floating pervert head, spot Lobot, the 'Big Jesus', how we would have ended the film, and Phil's homemade fan edits that have to be seen to be believed.

As the film's original trailer said; "if you've only seen the first part, you haven't seen the best part".
