    Movie Moan - The End Is Nigh (sort of)

    We're back for the new year but we're not going to be sticking around for too long. We have a very important announcement to make about the future of entertainment as presented by Phil Gee and Jamie Williams. And it's at the end of the show so feel free to skip straight to it. I hope you understand what we're doing but if you do have any questions then please feel free to ask me in the comments section below or on Twitter.

    And once you've rewound back to the start of the show you can join us as we pick the most important films we saw in 2013, consisting of our favourite film, the worst film, the most surprising film, and the most disappointing film of the year.

    Plus, Phil shares a story of how he became more than just a man. He became........a legend.........for an hour.

    Aw man it's going to suck that you guys are gonna be gone until 2015! That means no Summer Box Office Show of 2014! Well you guys have given me a lot of inspiration for the podcast shows I do. When you guys come back, I'll be waiting!

    01-6-2014 | Unregistered CommenterA2theH

    I couldn't wait to find out the news so I read the comments - no new shows till 2015?! Nooooo!!! You help me laugh through my worst times so this is really bumming me out. :(

    Heard it. Now I know how all those teenage girls felt when Gary Barlow held "that" press conference. The first one obviously. will there be a special helpline set up to help us deal with the trauma?

    This is a bit disappointing, I won't lie, but I have no doubt that when Movie Moan does come back, it'll be better than ever! I'm looking forward to the next month, and I'm sure it'll be a send-off in high style!

    Sorry to hear it but totally understandable. Best wishes gents.

    You'll come back gangbusters in 2015!!!!!!!

    Look forward to your special projects.

    @Zeeke

    I am on call 24/7 if you need me.

    @Shelly

    I knew you wouldn't like the news. I hope re-running the several years of material we have done so far will be some consolation while we are away. This is just something we need to do right now but....

    @A2THEH

    ...the Summer 2014 box office show WILL go ahead as it always would. We love doing it. You guys love taking part. That one is on. Look for it the first week of April.

    @Phil, I know it's a huge amount to ask so sorry for that, but if it can be arranged and isn't too much trouble, can you bring back Gabe and Justin Korthof (sorry I don't know how to spell his last name) for the final show before your hiatus?

    01-7-2014 | Unregistered Commentershelly

    Sorry to see you guys go. To be honest, I kinda found the video versions of the podcast pointless. I understand people do like video podcasts, but I don't mean to be harsh on you Phil but they really were just slideshows and clips that happened to conicide with what you guys were talking about. I understand if you thought they made the podcast special because you worked hard on it, but I usually just minimized the window. I always listened for you guys, so the video images and clips really were never important. Sad to see you guys go as you're the only movie podcast I listened to since the one site i frequented pretty much shut down! Hope I wasn't too harsh over the video portion, but I just wish you guys could do an audio podcast even if it is twice or once a month.

    Shelly - I can't promise it but I'll certainly try.

    Kevin - No, that's certainly fair comment regarding the video versions of late. Please keep in mind that we have been doing this non-stop for several years now and I just think, for my own sake, that the time away is going to be, not just good for me, but essential if the show is to continue. It is a hiatus, during which time we will not be sitting on our arses eating chocolates. We will be working round the clock on content.

    The Supermoan series is the most important thing to me and that has to be a video series or nothing, as far as I'm concerned. I know some of the viewers have to agree with that.

    Well, it sucks to see you go, but hopefully it will be for the best, and when the show does come back, it will be better than ever. Though I've always enjoyed the videos, I've never felt it was the essential part of the show (with certain exceptions of course, like Supermoan or the Skyfall/Man of Steel screenings); that is and always will be the people on it. Phil, Jamie, Ed, Gabe, Justin, Robert, Lou, Ed, Shawn, Jen, and others I'm forgetting at the moment, you guys have made a show that is just a joy to listen/watch, so I hope you come back as soon as possible. Looking forward to the 2014 Summer Box Office Shows (predicitions and results), and hopefully you'll make a Winter one this year too.

    So after February, and the Summer 2014 Box Office Prediction in April, you guys won't do anymore Movie Moan for a long time? Will there be other podcasts?

    01-11-2014 | Unregistered CommenterRobb

    @Phil Gee

    Well I'm still gonna miss you guys doing shows but if you say it's for the better then I believe you.

    @Kevin

    The video shows actually brought some good funny material for the show imo.

    01-11-2014 | Unregistered CommenterA2theH

    I didn't catch what video game you're going to play/review Phil. Is it secret?

    Good luck with it all anyways guys.

    01-13-2014 | Unregistered CommenterMuz

    Robb

    There will be material involving the people who make our show what it is. That's about the best way I can put it.

    Muz

    It is meant to be a surprise yes. But as a small clue, I will say it was a PC game released in 2000.

    Fuck! Sorry for cussing. This is terrible news. The podcasts were always the highlight of my week. Every time a new one was released, I immediately stopped doing whatever it was I was doing (even if it was studying for an exam or whatever else) and listened to the whole thing. I discovered you guys through the Superman Returns episode of SuperMoan (on YouTube), then I watched all the previous ones and then I started listening to the MovieMoan Podcast, checking every new episode out and also going back to listen to old ones (probably dozens of those, but since you'll be going on this long hiatus, I'll probably now listen to every single one to fill time - I really hope all of those are available in mp3 format to download!). I watched the James Bond retrospective too which was very cool and highly enjoyed the recent commentaries of The Phantom (it actually made me go and buy the DVD since I haven't seen it in ages) and Steel too!

    So..even though I'm really sad now, I'm sure this is meant to be and every second of the wait is going to be worth it.

    01-14-2014 | Unregistered Commentergocsa

    My only hope is that this hiatus might end up not lasting as long as planned. Like when the Nostalgia Critic triumphantly returned after a short time. Btw have you guys considered just decreasing the frequency of the shows? Like every other week, or every third week? Hell, even once a month is more than nothing - although I do get that it's not going to be just nothing for 10 months, we'll get shows for X-Men and some other things, but that's still not enough MovieMoan :(

    01-14-2014 | Unregistered Commentergocsa

    I got turned onto moviemoan from reading a post by Jamie at superherohype for the summer 2012 predictions show and have been a faithful listener/watcher ever since. I love your show guys and as long as you provide content, i'll be here. That first show I listened to was one of the most entertaining things I've ever watched online in my entire life. You guys talk about everything I care about as far as nerd entertainment goes. There's nothing better. I can't wait until you guys return :)
