TMT Presents: Five Nights Of Halloween - Night Two

Welcome back to TMT's five part series where we explore the worst horror movies that you haven't seen but you should. Last night we ventured to the mid 1980's and attended class at "Slaughter High". Tonight we've been invited for some frights at the #4 entry in our countdown.

    Christina's House

Christina is a young teenager that doesn't look all that young.  She is forced move to a small town with her father and brother in order to be closer to her insane mother. The house that the family rents is being worked on by a gruff repair man named Howie. Despite Christina's friend coaxing  her to dump her boyfriend Eddy to get with Howie....

    CARE

This movie really has no plot as you can see from the above. I've never watched a horror movie that attempts to take it self so seriously even if the subject matter is ludicrious. For some reason there is a moat that runs around the house where bodies of teenage girls start surfacing. No, there isn't a drawbridge.

One reason to see this horrible horror film is Allison Lange, if you're a male that is. There is a scene of her splashing in a tub if you're so inclined. I can't imagine how John Savage of "Deer Hunter" fame ended up in this film, I mean this is the guy who was in "Night Moves" and now he is playing Christina's father in this "So Bad It's Good" horror flick. How quickly the mighty have fallen.

Rent the film. Enjoy the badness of it all. Trailer below.

    New Alice In Wonderland Trailer

Funny my buddy and writing partner Jamie Williams should mention the duo of Burton and Depp because they are indeed at it again as evidenced by this new "Alice In Wonderland" trailer courtesy of Spike TV...again.  The filck has Burton written all over it, I think even Burton has out "Burtoned" himself with this one. Not only has he put his stamp on Alice, he has drooled all over it. You be the judge. Check out the trailer below.

TMT Presents: Five Nights Of Halloween

This five part series will introduce you to five different horror movies that you have never heard of but are must sees for any horror buff. These films fit into the "So Bad, They're Good" category. Without further ado I introduce you to #5 on our countdown.

    Slaughter High

"Slaughter High" was shot in England on a miniscule budget and released in 1986. The film's original title was going to be "April Fools Day" but as we know a better and more well known film won that battle. The film deals with your typical nerd who is being bombarded with pranks by your group of typical cool kids, think the characters in "Saved By The Bell" played by really bad British actors with really really bad fake American accents. Well of course said pranks go wrong and not only is Marty thoroughly embarrassed, his face is burned with some well placed acid apparently turning him into a grotesque freak.

Cut too years later, the cool kids have all moved on never to even think of the glasses wearing geek named Marty until they receive special invitations to return to the scene of the "accident" for a reunion. They all decide to attend the reunion and are confronted with a closed down school awaiting the wrecking ball. Instead of turning back or heading to a local Motel 6, they all decide to break into the school for some sex, drugs, and drunken acts of idiocy. What would a horror film be with out it?

Once inside the former students reminisce about the "good ole days" and wonder what ever happened to Marty. The group discovers that their lockers are stuffed with their belongings and inevitably are killed off one by one. One of the male characters downs a beer which obviously wasn't really beer at all. Whatever the contents, it is strong enough to cause his stomach to explode. Later, a female character randomly decides to take a bath and instead melts in a tub of acid. To top it off a psycho in a jester mask is stalking the halls finishing off whomever is left with a javelin. We all assume that Marty is the man behind the mask until he awakes from his home in a mental institution and we realize it was all a dream.

My above description of this film does not do it justice. See below for the trailer and judge for yourself. You can't make this stuff up.

'Captain America' Will Knock Your Socks Off

Is it really much of a news flash that the Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics thinks that the "Captain America" script is fantastic? Apparently it is or else I wouldn't be reporting on it. Joe Quesada was the guest of honor at the Big Apple Comic-Con and hosted a question and answer panel along with Wizard Magazine's Casey Seijas. Among other Marvel related topics such as "Spider-Man 4" Quesada almost had a geek attack when he mentioned the upcoming "Captain America".

"I've seen a couple of outlines and an initial screenplay, and it's going to rock everyone's socks off," he said. "It's very unexpected, the kind of movie it is." Quesada added that "Captain America" sets up "The Avengers" in "a fantastic way" and also mentioned that there is an undisclosed wish list of actors to play the star-spangled superhero.

Am I the only one who is seeing through the star studded shield here? "Captain America" comes out two months after "Thor" yet it seems like there is no movement whatsoever. "Thor" has a continually expanding cast and a start date. "Captain America" was buried in the ice if you look closely at a deleted scene from "Hulk" and Tony Stark might have had the Captain's shield proudly displayed on his work bench.

Captain America may or may not be in theaters July 22, 2011.

Ninja Turtles TV Series & Film For 2012

I was huddled on my couch this Sunday as the snow started to fall in New England and was flipping through the stations as I waited for opening kickoff of the "Pats" game. Luckily as I hovered around TBS or TNT I was pleasantly surprised to find the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" live action film. Before I knew it was fully engrossed, praying that the pizza eating foursome locate Master Splinter and defeat the evil Shredder. I guess Nickelodeon must have been watching this past weekend as well because they paid a hefty $60 Million to acquire the global rights to the reptiles.

Along with news of the acquisition, Nickelodeon also announced plans to to create a CG animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle television series to debute in 2012. In addition to the possible series, Nickelodeon has joined with Paramount Pictures to plan a new feature film which is also scheduled to be released in 2012. Nickelodeon also now enjoy the merchandising rights to the characters in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe and will work with Playmate Toys, the company responsible for the TMNT toys over the last 20 years. This sounds like one hell of a deal for Nickelodeon and if they can live up to their business plan it will be a hell of a deal for fans of "The Turtles".

    New "Wolfman" Trailer

    Apple: Watch The Trailer

    Coming Soon: See The Photos

Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, "The Wolfman" brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother... and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.

Lawrence Talbot's childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother's fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.

As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself... one he never imagined existed.

    Marc Guggenheim Exits "Flash Forward"

The veteran scribes over at Aint It Cool News were handed a hot off the presses scoop that Marc Guggenheim will no longer be involved with ABC's sci-fi drama "Flash Forward". The details behind Guggenheim's departure are not available at this time, and anything pointing to the possible reason would be purely speculative on my part. It is being reported that Guggenheim was involved with the first 12 episodes of "Flash Forward" acting as a mentor to David Goyer who will take over the just recently ordered "back nine".

"Flash Forward" burst on to the scene with much fanfare, being dubbed the next "Lost" and didn't disappoint. The pilot knocked veteran ratings juggernaut "Survivor" out of the top spot its opening week and has continued with solid ratings throughout its early run. I'm surprised that Marc even had time to work on "Flash Forward" considering his incredibly busy schedule. Not only is he still involved with WB's comic book blockbuster "Green Lantern", but he is also hard at work writing the post-apocalyptic invasion flick "Resurrection" which is set to be distributed by Universal Pictures. Marc is also working on Marvel's "Iron Man vs Whiplash" 4-part comic run which acts as a refresher on the character of "Whiplash" who will be featured in "Iron Man 2" courtesy of Mickey Rourke.

Last time I chatted with Marc he mentioned some more fun projects on the horizon, so stay tuned.

    New Avatar Trailer Causes Meltdown

The capable scribes over at Coming Soon have revealed that there will be a new "Avatar" trailer coming this Friday October 23rd. Cue mass hysteria, frogs raining from the sky, and the Atlantic Ocean parting to reveal the Lost City Of Atlantis. 20th Century Fox will be treating moviegoers to over 3 1/2 minutes of 3D footage from the mind of James Cameron. If you can't make it to theaters you'll have to wait until October 29th to witness the muscular blue creatures dodging bullets in a vast alien landscape.

James Cameron and 20th Century Fox better hope this film lives up to the hype or they are going to be scouring beaches with metal detectors to recoup their losses. Obviously the flick will be pleasing to the eye, but will the general public care enough to see it and recommend it to their fickle friends. It's not as if there is a legion of James Cameron fanboys that the studio can rely on. Can you imagine a bedroom featuring a bed with James Cameron sheets and James Cameron AM/FM radio on the side table.
