Kevin James Will Blart Harder in Mall Cop Sequel

Kevin James screamed and fell on his ass to box-office glory with Paul Blart: Mall Cop this time five years ago. Whether it was the weak carryover business from the Christmas '08 slate, the likeability of its star (The King of Queens was on the air for nine years; shows don't last that long just because network heads like it) or maybe audiences genuinely were intrigued by the notion of "Fat Die Hard in a Mall," it made big bank.

James must have kept a sequel in his back-pocket when his "Fatty Make Funny" glory days dried. Save for Grown-Ups and the Criterion-worthy Grown-Ups 2 (a sequel brilliant in its awfulness), it's been a miss at the box-office.

So yes, as THR reports, here comes Paul Blart 2. Andy Fickman is in talks to direct and he's reportedly the only new addition. Everyone else who made the 2009 original the benchmark for comedy stays in place. The rumor will be bursting with developments on if Bryan Cranston plays the villain or whether Blart is secretly a descendent from Krypton.

New Posters for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Are AWESOMEly Lazy

Sony's really (not) pulling out all the stops for marketing this summer's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with an obnoxious viral campaign that has literally become "LOOK AT ALL THE STUFF FROM THE COMICS, WOW, ARE WE THE AVENGERS YET"; instead of a well-crafted and immersive ARG like the first film attempted.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Here we see 3 new posters that are the exact same components of all the other posters, except copied and pasted into other perspectives, including one that is an exact copy of the SPIDER-MAN 2 Doc Ock poster only more zoomed in.

    2014 DGA Award Nominations Announced

The next step to the Oscar nominations is upon us - the Directors Guild of America or DGA Award for you non-movie dweebs not following this stuff (You and your day jobs and lives! Bah!) A reliable indicator of how the race shapes up for Best Director. It's not scientifically accurate, granted. Ben Affleck who won last year for Argo wasn't even nominated come Oscar time. A year on and that snub is still surprising.

This year the nominees are Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity, Paul Greengrass for Captain Phillips, Steve McQueen for 12 Years a Slave, David O. Russell for American Hustle and Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street.

General rule of thumb: whoever wins the DGA Award is a shoe-in for victory at the Oscars. Still too soon to put money but I see a repeat of last year; a Spread the Wealth ceremony including a split between Best Picture and Best Director. 12 Years a Slave for the main prize and Alfonso Cuaron for directing.

First TV Spot For THE LEGO MOVIE: Everything Is AWESOME.

Courtesy of the Official Twitter Account for WB's The LEGO Movie verifies that everything is indeed awesome in the movie that is expected to bring your childhood to life.

This comes just on the heels of character posters for Batman and Superman, acting as a way for WB to hit all the marks with advertising not only their LEGO feature-film; but to start early hype tapping into 2015's Man of Steel sequel to feature Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman (who are all featured in the film).

The film stars Chris Pratt as a lowly LEGO builder, Emmett, who after a case of mistaken identity is believed to be "The Special", and must team up with other Lego Figures such as Batman (Will Arnett), Superman (Channing Tatum), Wonder Woman (Colbie Smulders), The Builder (Morgan Freeman), and mystic warrior Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) against the evil President Business (Will Ferrell) and his henchman, including Good Cop/Bad Cop, played Liam Neeson.

The LEGO Movie assembles Feb 7, 2014.

Nearly 50-Year Old 'Montezuma' Script Might Be Steven Spielberg's Next

Imagine a film in-development for nearly half a century...

That's the case for the blacklisted script, Montezuma, written by Dalton Trumbo in 1965 (who had been basically ousted by Hollywood for the whole 'Communist' scare back in the 1950s), and now being considered as a directorial vehicle for Steven Speilberg and Javier Bardem to possibly star.  Oh and Steve Zallian (The Social Network) is rewriting the script too.

The plot revolves around the dark history between Spanish ruler Hernando Cortez and Aztec leader Montezuma that ultimately led to a bloody and gruesome war for ownership of Spain.

Bardem is circling the role of Cortez as the story actually follows his would-be-character throughout the film which might actually change the title to Cortez.

Spielberg at this point is considering directing the project but will surely be on-board as a producer.  The legendary director hasn't made a film since his Oscar nominated Lincoln and is obviously being careful about what his next project will be.

We'll keep you updated on any further news for this project.

"The Lego Movie" - Superman Ready To Soar On Character Poster

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.
