Metamorpho Joining Arrow?

Pretty big news regarding Arrow has ramped up anticipation for season 2 with Barry Allen joining residence of Starling City. The upcoming season has been taglined "City of Heroes" and Marc Guggenheim released a very interesting image today that could be a possible hint for more characters to join the cast.

Even with this Metamorpho reference, if he is included on the show, I'm sure there would be a radical redesign from the classic look his known for. Just check the image below and you'll see what I mean. This heightens the excitement even more for this show and all of the potential for WB/DC finally getting their shared universe out in the open.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Poster

Joss Whedon (MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) shows us not all heroes are super with MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Fresh from his role in the summer’s box office smash, MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS, Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) returns to the worldwide law enforcement organization S.H.I.E.L.D.  He puts together a small, highly trained, team of Agents to tackle the cases that haven’t been classified yet, the new, the strange and the unknown.  That team consists of straight arrow Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage; pilot and martial artist Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen); and brilliant if socially awkward scientists Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They’ll be joined by civilian new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

Prepare for an epic adventure that showcases the hope and wonder of the human spirit. This is a world of Super Heroes, aliens and the unusual – of action, spectacle and world spanning stories. The show will speak to the human condition through the lens of our very human, non-powered S.H.I.E.L.D agents – that together we are greater than we are apart, and that we can make a difference in the world.

Executive Produced and co-written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Smallville, Lost, Heroes) comes Marvel’s first live-action TV series, MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Young Justice & Green Lantern Cancellation

Earlier today it was announced that Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman would be added the fall line up of the DC Nation programming on Cartoon Network. Unfortunately that means the absence of two extremely popular and well received shows already in that time slot, Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice. It was officially announced through the Twitter feed of Giancarlo Volpe who produces Green Lantern.

Last year both shows were pulled from Cartoon Network unexpectedly and without any sort of notice. Fans, including myself, tuned in to watch two of their favorite shows only to find them replaced with a one hour block of Dreamworks Dragons. Later on the network revealed that the programs would return the following year to resume programming. It feels much like the pulling of the shows was a ruse to try and cause viewership to drop, but it may have backfired on the company.

A petition has already started up with nearly a complete set of signatures needed to get Cartoon Networks attention. If you cared about these shows and believe they should not be taken away so soon, then please take a moment to sign the petition. This doesn't mean the shows will stay, but it's at least taking a stand and showing the company that the fan base feels ignored.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series Clip

The second half of the first season of Green Lantern: The Animated Series is quickly on its way. Fan-favorite Guy Gardner will be making his appearance in these episodes as it follows a new story arc. It is also nice to see the tease for the Manhunters having a bigger part in this second half of the season. The episode is cleverly titled "The New Guy" and Hal returns from being out in space for so long that he's been replaced by Guy as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814. Check the clip above and don't forget to catch the full episode on September 29th.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series headed to DVD

The Green Lantern animated series has offered a number of fantastic episodes since the pilot aired last November. They've surprisingly kept Sinestro out of the season so far and have really built a strong foundation for the Red Lanterns leading up to the inevitable showdown in the seasons end. With the episodes almost wrapped up, Warner Home Video released the specs today for the Season 1, Part 1 DVD coming out on August 28th. Sucks that there is no announcement for a Blu-ray, but you sometimes have to make do with what's given. Check out the details below;

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps embark on their latest intergalactic missions as Warner Home Video (WHV) releases Green Lantern: The Animated Series — Rise of the Red Lanterns (Season 1 Part 1) on DVD. Based on the adventures of the popular DC Comics super hero, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, currently part of Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block (Saturdays at 10 a.m. ET/PT), is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and animation legend Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series; DC Universe Animated Original Movies). The two-disc DVD set featuring the first 13 episodes of the CG-animated action series will be available on August 28, 2012 for $19.97 SRP.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series — Rise of the Red Lanterns (Season 1 Part 1) follows Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps on a treacherous journey through deep space. As Earth’s Green Lantern, Hal must face down an invasion from the villainous Red Lantern Corps, who will stop at nothing to destroy and silence the Green Lantern Corps forever. Joined by his former drill sergeant Kilowog, and several all-new heroes, Hal brings the cosmic battle against the forces of evil to the far reaches of the galaxy. Equipped with a new squad and new spacecraft, The Inceptor, Hal and the team set out to protect the universe — and the Green Lantern Corps itself!

“Green Lantern: The Animated Series has really taken us into a realm we hadn’t explored before: our first completely CG-animated series,” enthuses Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs, at Warner Bros. Animation. “Like Teen Titans and Batman: The Animated Series, it’s an incredible, groundbreaking action series, combining the legendary instincts of Emmy®-winning executive producer Bruce Timm and the incredible artistry of WBA’s CG animators. It’s a beautifully rendered, epic space adventure with a scale that’s simply breathtaking.”

“With the release of the live-action movie last summer and the wildly popular Cartoon Network series, Green Lantern mania is at an all-time high,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President of Family and Animation Marketing and Partner Brands. “Warner Bros. Animation is known for creating outstanding animated series, and we are thrilled to be able to bring these new super hero adventures to DVD.”

Executive produced by Sam Register (Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Ben 10), and Bruce Timm, Green Lantern: The Animated Series is produced by Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Jim Krieg (Ben 10: Alien Swarm). Based upon the popular DC Comics character, the series features the voice talents of Josh Keaton as Hal Jordan, Jason Spisak as Razer, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kilowog and Grey DeLisle as Aya. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Green Lantern: The Animated Series airs Saturdays at 10 a.m. (ET/PT) as part of Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series — Rise of the Red Lanterns (Season 1 Part 1) includes the following episodes:

Beware My Power…Green Lantern's Light (Part One)
Beware My Power…Green Lantern's Light (Part Two)
Razer's Edge
Into the Abyss
Heir Apparent
Lost Planet
Reckoning
Fear Itself
…In Love and War
Regime Change
Flight Club
Invasion
Homecoming

The DVD also includes a four-page preview of the Green Lantern: The Animated Series comic book.

DC Nation Premieres March 3rd

All-New Hour-Long Block Premieres Saturday, March 3 at 10 a.m. (ET, PT)

Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment are teaming up to present DC Nation, a full hour of exclusive kids’ television programming and shorts based on DC Comics characters. Full of action and humor, DC Nation brings some of the most beloved and legendary heroes — as well as some lesser-known cult favorites — from the pages of DC Comics to the screens of a whole new generation of fans. Anchored by Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice, DC Nation will premiere Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. (ET, PT).

Green Lantern: The Animated Series debuted in November 2011 on Cartoon Network as a special one-hour movie event and was greeted with much critical acclaim: Variety lauded the “beautifully rendered” series for its “bold, sleek design.” Now fans can experience the series again from the very beginning. With stunning, stylized CG animation, Green Lantern: The Animated Series takes viewers on a journey of cosmic proportions as Hal Jordan and his band of heroes fight to save the universe.

The second half hour of DC Nation will be comprised of new episodes of Young Justice, a series which Entertainment Weekly called a “super-ior cartoon” with “a good dose of super-hero action.” The series continues with more adventures for Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis as they continue to try to prove themselves as superheroes while dealing with all the pitfalls of being teenagers.

Rounding out this branded block of original programming will be a number of shorts featuring DC Comics super heroes and characters as you have never seen them before. With fresh designs and concepts, fan favorites such as Plastic Man and Doom Patrol will finally take center stage next to the likes of Wonder Woman and Teen Titans. Bringing them to life will be the result of a collaboration with some of the top talents in the animation industry, which include award-winning Aardman Studios (Arthur Christmas, Wallace and Gromit) with its stop-motion clay animation techniques, and the unique direction and character designs of Lauren Faust (The Powerpuff Girls, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic). In addition to these shorts, DC Nation will also feature event programming, interstitials, exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at theatrical motion pictures and an insider look into the world of all things DC Comics.

Stephen Amell Is Green Arrow

Deadline has the reveal of our new Green Arrow and it's Stephen Amell. I'm not familiar with the actor, but I do know some of the shows he's been in which include 9012, The Vampire Diaries (both are CW programs), HBO's Hung, and Private Practice for ABC.

While Justin Hartley's portrayal of the character for Smallville was a bit more clean cut, it looks like Amell could really pull of the rugged style that Oliver Queen is known for. I assumed the twirled mustache and pointed goatee would be gone and understandably so. He very much resembles the newly relaunched version of the character in DC's new 52.

A modern retelling of the story of DC Comics character Green Arrow, he will play the vigilante superhero who fights crime using archery, martial arts and technology under his secret identity as Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy and billionaire industrialist-turned-outspoken politician in Star City.
