Super Bowl 50 Gives First Look at 'Jason Bourne'

While the big game may have been underwhelming (defense wins championships), Universal dropped the first footage of the newest Bourne film - now officially titled Jason Bourne - which brings back franchise star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum).

The spot still offers little insight into what the actual plot of the new film is, but as we can see, Bourne looks to be partaking in underground fighting and once again living off the grid until something brings him out of hiding. As the last line uttered in the preview goes (which I believe is spoken by Alicia Viklander), he's 'the perfect weapon'.

I for one love the first footage as well as the new title, which is a change-up from the usual branding as this looks to be both a follow-up yet new chapter in the Bourne series. I only wonder if anything will be mentioned of the Damon-less sequel, The Bourne Legacy, which opened in 2012 starring Jeremy Renner as a new character named Aaron Cross. That film had so-so results at the box office and with critics and is unlikely he'll be back for this new film

Anyway, enjoy the first look at Jason Bourne below which also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Julia Stiles.

    It hits theaters July 29th.
