'Hansel and Gretel' sequel is inevitable

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters turned out to be a surprise hit for Paramount Pictures and MGM this past January (after being pushed back from its original March 2012 date). With a robust $205 million in the coffers -- 2/3's of that was made internationally-- and against a $50 million production budget, don't be surprised when Paramount announces a sequel in the coming months.

Money talks in Hollywood. Leads Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton are contracted for two more films, plus Renner's growing popularity thanks to The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy, means a sequel is a no-brainer at this point. No telling whether Tommy Wirkola will return to direct (or who will write), but expect the sequel to get fast-tracked for first quarter 2015.
