"Sucker Punch" Won't Be Converted to 3D?

Director Zack Snyder hasn't been blown away by any of the recent attempts at post conversion 3D. Speaking to MTV, Snyder said that he’s been talking with Warner Bros. about converting his upcoming film Sucker Punch into 3D. He doesn't seem too keen on the idea of doing a post-conversion:
“We’ve looked at a bunch of conversions, so whether or not we have the time to do it right — I’m not going to do it if we don’t have the time to really be meticulous with it. It’s such an awesome piece of work and everyone’s worked so hard to make it awesome, so I don’t want to screw it up with bad 3D.”
Also not overly impressed with the growing trend in Hollywood is Zack's wife and producer Debbie Snyder. Here's what she had to say about 3D, and if Sucker Punch really needs it:
“There are very few vendors out there that are doing [conversions]. There are all these movies that want to be converted and we just haven’t felt like we’ve seen that proof yet. Visually, Zack’s done an amazing job. It’s such a spectacle in and of itself and it’s so fantastical that it doesn’t really need the 3-D.”
Snyder has described the film as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns", including dragons, B-52 bombers and brothels.
Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of Baby Doll, who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy. She ends up in mental institution and while there she starts to imagine alternative reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man. She has 5 days to escape before being lobotomized. In order to cope with the situation, she enters the hyper-real world of her imagination, and the lines between reality and dream begin to blur. She is joined with friends who are inmates from the institution. Lessons learned in the said fantasy world could help the girls escape their real-world fate
It's nice to see not everyone in Hollywood has jumped on the 3D bandwagon all at once. After the mess that was the Clash of the Titans remake, you'd think Warner Bros especially would cool off of the 3D post conversions. The only thing that seems to really work in 3D is animation. Snyder’s upcoming animated film Legends of the Guardians is in 3D, but that was always the intent.

Avatar was the only movie that wasn't a cartoon that looked amazing in 3D, everything else was either meh or crap.
Thank god! I am so sick of everything in 3D. This is being used as a gimmick to charge more money, but it's not making most of these movies any better. I'm glad a great filmmaker like Snyder is able to see this.
I think WB will be thinking Alice just did 1 billion we need 3D to push this over the edge, but fuck that noise. From what they're saying it almost seems like 3D would take away from it
This movie actually sounds pretty awesome. I seriously hope they don't post-convert if it doesn't need it; clash of the titans is a great example. That movie wasn't that great on its own, but I went it in 3D first before seeing it in 2D and was very dissapointed with the end result.
