Mystique cast in X-Men: First Class

 

The more I hear about the mutants that appearing in X-Men first class the more this sounds like a reboot as opposed to a prequel. It seems like every character from the original trilogy and then some are set to appear at some point, only the returning mutants have all been cast younger.

Now HeatVision reports that Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as the younger version of Mystique in the film set for release next year.

Mystique, who was played by Rebecca Romijn in the trilogy, is a shapeshifter who can mimic other people, though she cannot replicate superpowers. In comics lore, she was revealed to be the mother of X-Man Nightcrawler.

The trades have also confirmed Kevin Bacon joining the cast as the villain, but who exactly he's playing is still under wraps.
