Kevin James Is "The Zookeeper"
Kevin James is turning in his security badge for a khaki zookeper ensemble according to a report from Variety. After winning a bidding war last April for Jay Sherick's and David Ronn's spec script "The Zookeeper", MGM is aiming for a Summer 09 start date with Frank Coraci behind the lense.
In a reteam of "Blart" producers, Happy Madison's producing with James and Jeff Sussman through their Hey Eddie shingle and Todd Garner through his Broken Road banner.
"Zookeeper," penned by Jay Scherick and David Ronn, centers on a lonely zookeeper who decides to leave his job because he can't meet a girl, leading to intervention by the zoo's animals.
I have always been a big Kevin James fan following him from his standup to King of Queens. I'm happy he is now getting the opportunity to bring his brand of physical comedy to the big screen. I think the success of Paul Blart: Mall Cop, which is ready to crack 100 Million at the box office, will deliver a lot of opportunities to the big burly fellow's doorstep.
