    If we're going to start speculating on whether directors cared enough about their respective sequels I'm gonna say Nolan also didn't care to do TDKR. That movie is subpar with so many flaws that are usually not found in Nolan's previous work.

    You can start arguing with me about reviews and box office making my point in the minority but that doesn't hold water since STID is also getting positive reviews. Sure its boxoffice is gonna be underwhelming but Trek is not Batman in terms of general audience appeal etc.

    Thanks so much for uploading to YT, Phil. I felt guilty about asking after you mentioned copyright issues so I hope it wasn't too much trouble for you to do it. And an extra thanks for having Gabe back on, whee! His first podcast here, Violating Our Sacred Holes, continues to be my favorite and most-listened-to one here to date.

    I wouldn't argue it at all. That's why I put the disclaimer at the start. It's all subjective. I think Nolan was under the same amount of pressure to do another film, if not more so. But his film has texture, emotion, and understands the source material.

    @Shelly

    You're very welcome. The video is blocked in some countries because of the opening song but at least you got to see it. This is the crap I have to deal with on Youtube every week.

    Another great podcast. I agree with Shelly, thank you for the YouTube version, it works much better on my computer.

    Phil, I don't think it's so much that you have a double standard with blockbusters, it's that the films are different. Star Trek was trying to be somewhat real and serious, where it sounds like Fast 6 comes out and says this is nothing more than ridiculous action sequences and we're not going for any kind of realism at all. The difference is in the tone of the movies and I think you're justified in accepting something in one but not the other.
