Movie Moan - Not White Enough For Superman

Don't ask or judge. Just listen to Queen Kristina's reasoning behind why Joe Manganiello won't be Superman, and you'll see what she's talking about.

It's "trailer bitching fest" on this week's Movie Moan as Phil, her Majesty, Ed, Lou & Jamie discuss the last one for Tron: Legacy (Ahhhh, CG Jeff Bridges!) and the preview-to-a-preview Green Lantern teaser. Also on docket are discussions about Christopher Nolan searching for The Dark Knight Rises female leads, the Wolverine sequel being called The Wolverine and Jon Favreau directing The Magic Kingdom.

Plus, the latest thoughts on The Walking Dead, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows – Part II having its ending reshot, Battle Royale going 3D and Leavesden Studios becoming a Warner Brothers attraction instead of being used to say shoot movies.

I must say I'm a little disapointed that you guys (and gals) didn't do a piece on the death of Dino De Laurentiis! The man had a haphazzard career to say the least, but even his "dud" films are more like guilty pleasures rather than being genuinely bad (P.S the American release of the Flash Gordon Blu-Ray looks amazing! YOU CAN SEE THE SPITTLE ON BRIAN BLESSED'S BEARD AT ONE POINT!!! I'M NOT KIDDING!!!)

I've said it before and I will say it again, Aronofsky can do anything he wants (in my book) after The Wrestler, even if his next project is a story of a balerina, with overtones of The Fly (that sounds dismissive, but I really want to see Black Swan). Part of me refuses to believe (until they cut that first trailer) that "The Wolverine" will be a lost cause.

The Walking Dead is in the backburner of my mind, but I still haven't watched it yet.

I'm trying my best to ignore Tron hype right now, so I can go into the cinema as fresh as possible, though personally, I don't think the Jeff Bridges effects look THAT bad.

and in a rather pointless anecdote...

I remember renting Vampire in Brooklyn on video a year (or maybe less) after it had been released and bafflingly, the videotape suffered from that VHS fuzz that comes from tapes being overused...

either that or everyone who rented it, decided to fuck with the tape out of sheer spite, because the film sucked so much?

And it amazes me in this day and age that Battle Royale would be still unavailable in the U.S! If jokes about 9/11 are now somewhat acepted, why would a film that involves some elements that mirror (in the loosest possible way) a (then) recent tragedy be unavailable for 10 years? I'm not even a fan of BB, but it seems hypocritical that filmmakers like Uwe Boll can exploit real-life onslaughts for their films, that then manage to get decent releases.

You're quite right to mention Dino De Laurentiis sir. On our podcast though, we're just not prone to doing obituries. Besides, it would just devolve into Flash Gordon quotes. Nobody wants that.

Flash Gordon and Dune are arguably the most quotable films ever made.

I refuse to leave a comment for this week's podcast because... oh wait. Dang it! :)

It does not follow that because we do not subsidize smoking, we should not regulate unhealthy activities. Costs and savings are not the only variable. The fact that obesity creates costs is merely an additional reason to regulate it, not the only one. The main reason is its danger to an individual. You are dismissive of subsidizing smoking precisely because of this moral intuition. ryilqx ryilqx - Mulberry Purses Outlet.
