FRIDAY THE 13th Re-Reboot Coming from V/H/S Director

Jason will march through Camp Crystal Lake on a killing rampage again soon, as Platinum Dunes (Michael Bay's production company) are eying David Bruckner (Amateur Night from V/H/S) to bring the classic 1980s slasher franchise to the big-screen again after their 2009 adaption.

    The Wrap reports:

While plot details aren't necessarily under wraps — expect a bunch of good-looking teenagers to die in grisly ways — it's unclear what approach Bruckner plans to take with the reboot, or how it will incorporate the Jason Voorhees/Camp Crystal Lake mythology.

Friday the 13th classically tells of Jason Voohrees, a deformed child who was drowned and abused at a summer camp who comes back from the dead donning a hockey-mask, a machete, and a thirst for the blood of teenagers who have sex a lot.

A release date for the reboot has already been set for March 13, 2015.

It was previously rumored the film would be told through found-footage; but that has yet to be confirmed if it's still true.

Cowboy Leo DiCaprio Will Fight Bears to Try and Win an Oscar in THE REVENANT

Leonardo DiCaprio will go through hell and high-water if it means getting his long sought-after statue of a golden naked man, including starring in a revenge movie that's a remake of an old Western.

    Deadline has the skinny:

Leonardo DiCaprio has committed to star this September in The Revenant, a gritty thriller that Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu will direct for New Regency, for fall 2015 release through Fox.Gonzalez Inarritu and Mark L. Smith co-wrote the script.

As for what the film's plot entails, it seems like it'll be a pretty gritty revenge story:

An adaptation of the Michael Punke novel The Revenant: A Novel Of Revenge, Inarritu Gonzalez’s next film will star DiCaprio as Hugh Glass, a 19th century fur trapper who gets mauled by a grizzly bear, and then is left for dead by cohorts who rob him. When he survives, he is as pissed as a bee-stung bear and sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.

DiCaprio, just off of Scorcese's The Wolf of Wall Street seems like he'll be a good team with Inarritu who recently wrapped Birdman with Michael Keaton, and has brought Javier Bardem to an Oscar win in Biutiful as well as almost bringing Benicio Del Toro for a supporting win at the Oscars with 21 Grams and himself winning an Oscar for his 2006 film BABEL.

The Mexican born director seems to space and choose his projects carefully, and his upcoming Birdman releases in the fall.

"Annie" - The International Trailer Starring Quvenzhané Wallis

Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who's also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they'd be back for her someday, it's been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything's about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he's her guardian angel, but Annie's self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it's the other way around.

First Trailer for David Fincher's 'Gone Girl'; Director Exits Steve Jobs Biopic

Originally, this entry was solely going to be about the first trailer just released for director David Fincher's Gone Girl, an adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel of the same name.

However, news broke just a couple hours back that the extremely talented filmmaker is reportedly 'out' as director for the Steve Job biopic he was looking to helm with Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) writing and possibly Christian Bale set to star.

    First, I'll discuss Gone Girl.

The film is based on the crime-mystery novel about a man named Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) who becomes the lead suspect when his wife (Rosamund Pike) disappears on their five-year wedding anniversary.

The trailer - in typical Fincher style - has that unique look and feel to it (you can also view the film's poster below).

I haven't read the book but I'm certainly looking forward to anything Fincher does.  Not to mention, our upcoming Batman looks to be in pretty fine form as Affleck's seemingly landed one of his most complex and challenging roles in years.  Honestly, when has Fincher ever directed a bad performance?

    Gone Girl opens October 3rd.

Anyway, now onto the Steve Jobs thing.

Apparently, Fincher wants too much creative control (including marketing) along with a $10 million up-front fee.

Sony isn't down with the filmmaker's demands and is now looking at other directors to take on the project.

Not for nothing, I understand studios feel things are always a business and are constantly looking to make the most money off of something, but this is David Fincher we're talking about.  One of the top 5 directors working in Hollywood today, bar none.  When the man wants something, you give it to him.  It's not like his track records hasn't proven anything short of greatness.

The original story notes there is the possiblity the studio may re-enter negotiations with the filmmaker down the line so here's hoping Sony comes to their senses.

X-MEN: Days Of Future Past - Opening Battle Clip

The film is based on the comic book storyline "Days of Future Past," which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne's run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past — to save our future.
